On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Nice album...
Like last dance with Leith Jarrett, great album with two giants on the instrument, not needing to show off...
192/24 flac.

Bert,
I hate the first track, reminding me of root-canal treatment at the dentist. Is it only me wishing at times (I like his Bach album) that he would change his name to Bad Mehldau?
Space Oddity F.M. Broadcast 1983
David Bowie & Stevie Ray Vaughan
This is a fine sounding but dodgy bootleg with, what for me was an unlikely combo but works quite well in parts.

Ah Ewen - brings back memories: good old TAKRL boots. Plain white sleeve with a two colour insert or pasted front cover. Got quite a few of those on vinyl LP, from Floyd, Zep and Bowie. Must dig a few out...
From the big 6-LP 50th anniversary box (below) on double vinyl...
Listened to both of these earlier today. First up, Andrew Combs - Canyons of My Mind. In the singer-songwriter mould with a hint of country. Second, Gregg Allman - Southern Blood. Both very good albums.
Now listening to some power pop from The New Pornographers with their last album, Whiteout Conditions.
After today's political turbulence in Westminster it seemed rather apt to play this. One for TM, perhaps.
Bought a couple of weeks ago - Blue Note Signature Series reissue cut from the original master tapes on Classic Records ALL TUBE MONO cutting system by Bernie Grundman. Pressed 200 gram Quiex Super Vinyl and sounding superb.
Amazing piano playing by Wynton Kelly just beautiful I'm not sure if you can stream this but if you can and you like a bit of laid back and very cool early 60's Blue Note then give yourself a treat.
1976 - Vinyl - US first pressing...

I've had this LP since I was 14 years old and it was almost 10 years old then.
Declaration of Rights by Johnny Clarke is one of the best Roots vocals ever recorded.
David Corley - Available Light. This was a debut album release from David at the age of 53! I have had it for many months, but this is only the second time I've listened to it and it's really rather good. He has a gruff voice somewhere between Tom Waits and Lou Reed.

A puff on that thing would make you forget about Brexit! Another record from my adolescence.
(2013)
Back to Land
Some smokin' retro style Bay Area psychedelic rock by the Wooden Shjips.
Paul Simon - Hearts and Bones. Wonder what this would have sounded like if the proposed collaboration with Garfunkel had been realised ?

I see what you mean, the first song indeed doesn’t resemble the quality of the rest of the album.....
Arrived in the post today. My second Natalie Merchant album. Think I have Bruce to thank for this recommendation.

A bit of mellow alt- country with the Delines album, Colfax. Willy Vlautin is a member of this band and I have a CD from his other band, Richmond Fontaine, I need to listen to. Willy is apparently a highly rated author as well, but I haven't read any of his books. I must get round to trying one of his books.

I had a large number of them as well. Used to get them from the Manager of a Virgin Record Store.
