I wasn't sure about this the first few times I played it. Not now. It's a grower.

Lizz Wright - Salt
A story of bloody-mindedness (mine).
I first listened to this a couple of years ago and didn't get on with it. Since then I have listened to, enjoyed and bought a few of her albums and Lizz is now a firm favourite.
So when I saw this particular album on here recently I said to myself 'don't bother because you know you don't like this one of hers'. I saw it yet again on here (MDS or Seakayaker) and thought a I should remind myself why I don't like this album.
Well I am listening to it now and enjoying it. Yes it is a bit more Jazzy and gospely than some of her other offerings but rather good nonetheless.
The problem with absolutely writing off an artist or album forever is that you deny yourself some great music.
Just chillin' with a bit of Rautavaara on CD:
Robert Cray - Strong Persuader.

Interesting prog on Primal Scream, it filled in a lot of blanks
Really looking forward to the David Rodigan set, arie
Steely Dan, Greatest Hits. Going for side 4 just to reacquaint myself with some slightly less familiar songs, but there are no bad tracks on this album . I’ll dedicate track 2 side 4 to NigelB -> “ Ain’t never gonna do it without the Fez on” .
Suzanne Vega - Solitude Standing, is this still her best album ?

My mum used to tell me, keep you hands on your holiday money and keep your fez on - you know it makes sense.
I am a Steely Dan fan so got to give their greatest hits a whirl.

A most excellent documentary about Ram Jam Rodigan ............. probably available on BBC iPlayer for anyone who missed it, together with the Primal Scream one.
Live in Concert (1999). Joining the Natalie party. This is a favourite of mine.
Now playing..........
Dire Straits - Dire Straits
Streaming on NAS.............. a mention from KEVIN J CARDEN earlier and the desire to kick off this Friday evening with a an album to get my feet moving and the body swaying to work out those wiggles from this work week! Going back to 1978 the year of my daughters birth and one fantastic event and one fantastic album.......

Lizz is easy to fall in love with from this debut album with Verve through her whole catalogue. Some great musicians on this album backing her up. You are right about writing off an artist to quickly and the need for multiple spins to fall in love with an album. On the flip side there is only so much time and so much music......... a wonderful problem to have!
One for 3am eternal
Now Playing.........
Lizz Wright - Dreaming Wide Awake
Streaming on NAS.......... continuing on this Friday evening with music from Lizz, who is sounding mighty sweet!
Always a unique experience whenever playing this from the master

Thoughtful/ melodic/ upbeat.
Yep, it's a great record. We saw the concert. I obviously already knew how wonderful k.d. Lang is (she's a national treasure), I'd heard some Neko Case (and she's also great), but Veirs was the real revelation for me. Track down some more of her solo stuff.
His latest album. One of the best venues in the world.
