What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
I can still remember when I first heard this. A school mate and I were browsing the LPs in the music section of the local department store on a Saturday morning and we spotted the unusual cover. We asked the lady serving if we could have a listen and then stood in one of those sound booths and waited. Then Gypsy started playing and we looked at one another and both said wow!.
Oh yes. A nicely recorded album..
Otis Redding - Otis Blue - 2017 vinyl reissue
Another album from the Rhino box-set, Otis sings Change Gonna Come, Wonderful World, Satisfaction, and the second greatest version of Respect. What could he have done if he hadn’t died at 26?
Miles Davis - Relaxin' with the Miles Davis quintet
- Bass – Paul Chambers
- Drums – Philly Joe Jones
- Piano – Red Garland
- Tenor Saxophone – John Coltrane
- Trumpet – Miles Davis
Cool.
Vinyl released 1984 - A great job. ????

Great to see Uriah Heep on here. I used to hang out with them through my dad in the eighties, NO LIE.

Wow. I impressed, Stephen.
Having reminisced about the first time I heard Uriah Heep, I can also remember the first time I heard an except from House of the Holy. Before release, the TV Times said the Old Grey Whistle Test was going to play something from it. A mate (a different one) and I sat down to watch with eager anticipation. Bob introduced the item and played No Quarter. It was so different (again) from previous Led Zeppelin stuff. Another 'wow' moment and I always think of that occasion when I play No Quarter.

Yep. I worked in their rehearsing studio, helping rodeos, making tea etc … they were very good friends with my father who 'allegedly' helped with song lyrics and some other musical things. Old school boy buddies. Needless to say I spent three weeks in their rehearsing studio while they were looking for a new singer. I was only 15 years old! How about that?

Brilliant. Memories to treasure, though I suspect there aren't many folk you bump into these days who will have heard of the band.

Broken Barricades (40th Anniversary)
My apologies for posting this one from Procol Harum up yet again it's one of those old albums of mine that I just love playing quite often.
It's unbelievable really because at that time I never really knew who they really were. A couple of band members used to stay with us as times were hard then and it was like living with family. When I look back at it now it blows my mind because AFAIK they're still going. They did a 'live' Russian album in the very late eighties and if you get hold of a copy you will see a big thanks to me and my dad, Mike Tate.
Now Playing.......
K. D. Lang - Hymns of the 49th Parallel
Streaming on NAS............ joining k. d. lang and enjoying the tribute to the Canadian songwriters! A wonderful album!

The Kick Inside - 24/44.1
Starting my journey of the new remastered albums from Kate Bush.
Half way through Kate’s first album, and the remastering is absolutely brilliant, so far very pleased with my purchase.

Hi Edward
From Qobuz presumably? I was going to order some vinyl remasters but I already have several copies of most of her albums and was put off by the price. I checked Qobuz' pre-release section a few weeks ago and didn't see any of the remasters there so assumed it was physical media only - delighted to see the first wave of release there with Sublime/Sublime+ discounts too.
Did you buy 'the 4 album Pt 1 set' or get this on its own (set is cheaper unlike Pt II) - I'm a little dubious that Qobuz will have proper artwork for each album in the set if other past purchases are anything to go by, so might go for individual albums just to ensure proper artwork and lack of 'Pt I' type stuff in metadata.
Sorry for the bad pic, Continuing with Pink Floyd this evening. This disc has 'Made In Holland' printed on it, not sure if it's different but it certainly sounds a hell of a lot better than any other copy I've had. It sounds analogue to me. Really superb sound quality.

Fantastic memories Stephen!
I listened to music during the first hour of the Ireland/All Blacks match while watching the telly with sound off, had to watch the last 20 minutes with sound on. Only one thing to listen to now.
EDIT to add - Sorry, should probably explain for international members, Ireland played New Zealand at rugby today, NZ have been the strongest rugby team in the world for most of the history of the game, Ireland beat them in Ireland for the first time today, and Fields of Athenry is the song Irish crowds sing.
Vinyl released 1977 - Great album. ????
That perfect feeling
when time just slips
Away between us
on our foggy trip.
Now playing...........
Boz Scaggs - Fade Into Light

Congratulations! Must be a fantastic day to celebrate on the Emerald Isle...... and listening to a stadium full of people singing the 'Fields of Athenry' must send shivers down the spine.
I listened to this while driving back and forth to the Netherlands, enjoyable version...

I live in England, but tonight I’m very Irish. And yes, years ago at Landsdowne Road, watching Ireland against England, Athenry genuinely had the hairs on my arms on end.
