What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Rory Gallagher, Live in Europe 1972. 1972 vinyl, a bit battered, but plays cleanly.
Rory’s 3rd album, great stuff, what an amazing songwriter, guitarist and bluesman he was. This is high energy blues played as well as you could hope to hear.
On a side note, I recently found a Canpmbridge Folk Festival 1990 programme in a bag of papers I’d left at my mum’s in the mid-90s, just while I completed a flat move. (25 years later she lost patience.) Rory played 2 sets there, Bert Jansch also played twice, it was a good gig for guitar lovers.
Eminem - Curtain Call - The Hits
Vinyl copy purchased last week, HMV Pure offer. Another bargain.
Bill Evans - The Paris concert
Allmusic.com:
The two LP editions recorded at this Paris concert were the last examples of Bill Evans' playing to be released at the time. With bassist Marc Johnson and drummer Joe La Barbera, Evans had one of the strongest trios of his career, as can be heard on such pieces as Edition One's "My Romance," "I Loves You, Porgy," and "Beautiful Love." The close communication between the players is reminiscent of Evans' 1961 unit with Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian.
Nice album...
First listen to this which I bought on the basis of some recommendations on this thread. Glad I took a chance.
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Radu Lupu (piano)
Disc 1: 2 Rondos, op. 51 | 32 Variations on an Original Theme in c-minor, WoO 80 | Piano Concerto No. 3 in c-minor, Op. 37 | Piano Sonata No. 19 in g-minor, op. 49, no. 1 & 2
From the Complete Decca Solo Recordings which should have been renamed as Complete Decca Solo Recordings with a space filling Concerto thrown in for good measure which is also duplicated on the complete Concerto box set?

I should have added (but the 15 min window has elapsed) that the bass on this is prodigious, and in a good way, e.g. on The Sky Is Crying it is more felt than heard. .
Jimmy Page, Outrider, vinyl.
A good album, the songs are a bit of a mixed bag, although the playing makes up for that, the insrrumentals are great, worth it for Jimmy’s guitar.
Richard Thompson, Acoustic Classics II, 1st pressing triple vinyl (with acoustic rarities).
Staying with the master guitarist theme of my evening so far, very different style from the Gallagher and Page, Richard Thompson revisiting some of his best loved songs, just his voice and his acoustic. Fantastic album, wonderful Thompson songs, and some of the finest playing you’ll hear.
This is a rather lovely album and it's getting plenty of air-time in my house recently
Stones - Still Life (American tour, 1981)
And it's only Tuesday.
Love this record. The IMAX film of the same tour is well worth a look too.
Starting off my exploration of The Fall with this one

This is a very fine album, which I’ve not played for a while.
Handel Concerti Grossi Op.3
One of my favourite pieces of classical music - CD Rip
Rickie Lee Jones, Rickie Lee Jones, 1980s “mid-price”;vinyl.
Fantastic album, brilliant songs, superbly sung by RLJ, for some reason it is the only album I have of hers, a major omission remedied by a trip to the river and purchase of the original album series box-set.

I can't even begin to imagine when I last played this, spotted it in the virtual library while browsing, giving it a whirl.
Just a couple of tracks in and I'm blown away by the the quality of the recording, a quick look at the Dynamic range and it's knocking on the door of 16. The old choons aren't too bad either
At the weekend the BBC repeated a program about Agnetha Fältskog post ABBA and said that this album was caught up in their sudden breakup in 1982. In my opinion it is their most mature album getting away from their usual style. Some of the vocals still give me goosebumps! I have the vinyl bought last year from Oxfam.

The Visitors goes into history as one of the first album to be digitally recorded and mixed. It was the first to be produced in CD format. It has been reissued a number of times with different mixes. This may explain why your were amazed by the sound quality.

Ruby Hughes finally receives first billing on a record. Part of this disc is relatively unknown Handel, the rest totally unknown music from contemporaneous colleagues. Hughes’ engaging soprano and a very sympathetic OAE are just what is needed to let this music make their impact.
