What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
(1969)
The NIce (Deluxe and expanded)
The Nice at their best IMO
This seventy five minute album is a great mix of some of their best studio tracks and then live numbers played at the BBC, Filmore East and The Fairfield Halls, some of the tracks being in original mono. It's always my go to Nice album if for no other reason than listening to Keith Emerson doing his thing at his best before moving on to ELP in the same year...

Glad that you are enjoying her music , Mike. It's great to discover old artists and music new to you isn't it?
Michael Jackson - Thriller - vinyl
[@mention:12970396060785205], you talked about Madonna’s Ray of Light being a good system test. I think this one is also. It combines bass guitar with deep bass drums as well as instruments across the sound spectrum. Just blown away by this.
I’ve also been playing some sixties stuff which previously didn’t have that sixties sound. Bobby Vee’s greatest hits may be a bit kitsch now but it brings back memories. Carol King also sounded the way I rembered. Pavarotti‘s greatest hits so alive. Mozart’s horn Concertos so vibrant. There must be something about getting the intricacies of voices and instruments that is very demanding of HiFi.

Desperado - 24/96

Another great selection from Tabbycat. Mike Skinner is an exceptionally talented individual and this debut of his was one of the most innovative by an English Hip Hop artist ever IMO.
Police - Regatta de Blanc - vinyl
Some incredibly good music on this.

Absolutely, Steve. I must sit down one day and compile a list of artists that I've discovered through this thread that I've really enjoyed. It must be very long by now.
Dexter Gordon - In the cave

I agree, Phil. Michael Jackson's music is deservedly regarded very highly but he also deserves great credit for being fussy to ensure that the reproduction quality of his music justifies the effort he put into creating it.
Mike
Talking of high quality reproduction quality, it is quite superb on this CD by Annie L.

One Of These Nights - 24/96

Rush - 2112 - vinyl
I have been undecided about Rush because it just sounded loud before. But it has some merits with better replay. Please debate.

Always sounded fine on lowfi equipment to me.

Two years of recordings,67/68, with enough material for another three albums. One of the most prolific phases of the Zappa/Mother’s collaboration. Great stuff. ????
Vinyl reissue originally released 1970 - An album that doesn’t disappoint, exceptional playing - exceptional music. ????
Billie Holiday - All Or Nothing At All
Clearly Norman Granz knew how to capture a great recorded sound in January 1957.
Alex Dunn
Playing on Vinyl - Nice Chicago Blues from Luther Johnson Junior

@Fatcat, Is being 70 an excuse? I turned off progressive when it came out. I’m actually finding it quite musical now that I hear it properly. My wife would not agree.
What is it about Rush that you like?

Trent Miller
Talking earlier of artists I've discovered through this thread, here is another. Wow! What a talent is Ms Krauss (with or without Robert Plant).
Dixie Chicks - Taking The Long Way.
