What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Kate Bush: Ariel
A go to recording for assessing the system's ability to communicate the emotional content of the music. Superbly crafted: liquid sound.
Such attention to detail and a rich acoustic which is positively mellifluous.
And my final album of the evening what I consider IMHO to be his best album.
Possibly the best guitarist ever to play in the Muddy Waters band.

I am a bit of a 'Cats fan and I like Brian Setzer's solo stuff too, "Live Nude Guitars" is a great, great album. Good call TOBYJUG!

I have been undecided about Rush because it just sounded loud before. But it has some merits with better replay. Please debate.

Always sounded fine on lowfi equipment to me.
Rush and this precise album are two of the main reasons why I have always been keen to upgrade. The quality of their playing and the production (except the 90s CDs on first issue) has always been second to none, but my old mono portable Philips cassette player just didn't do them justice! Now I can enjoy the full firepower of the terrific threesome. Tremendous album, great guys, awesome acoustics
And it gets better the more you push the replay. I did think the beginning could be better.
Rodrigo y Gabriela.
Neil Sedaka - Solitaire - vinyl
The last of my LPs before packing the Rega Aura back in its box. Not much played these days but always popular in the sixties, he had a very high pitched voice. There are some really good songs on this LP.
It took the Aura to really deliver this LP for me. I was also true of Dionne Warwick’s Greatest Hits Vol 1, which on one track was too difficult for the Aria. Same with Rush 2112. These high frequencies can be difficult it seems. I guess this HiFi game involves compromises and sometimes the balance is not right. Nice to be clear about my vinyl bottleneck.

Riverside - Wasteland
Now playing.........
Tori Amos - Native Invader
Streaming on TIDAL............... Tuesday evening, spending a little time with Tori and she is sounding might fine!

Streaming on TIDAL.......... continuing on with Tori on this Tuesday evening, incredible voice, music and lyrics which is ticking all the right boxes tonight! Sweet!!!
Last one before sleeping last night...

That's an album I never got into during my CDS2 and NDS days. It's something I ought to try on the ND555. Thanks for the tip.

Playing on Compact Disc - Very relaxing Bach piano
Kate Bush - Aerial
This was mentioned above by Loki as being a go-to album which he uses to assess a system's abilities to communicate the emotional content of the music. Well I've tried again and still it doesn't really connect with me. I agree that it's well recorded, but I think I've just grown out of Kate. Strange that, because when I was a lad...
Playing on Cassette on TDK D C90 - Live Kinks from Kelvin Hall Glasgow 1968
The Bad Plus - Suspicious Activity?
Quietly with cuppa as I do some work. Must buy some more of theirs.

Currently enjoying Composer of the Week on BBC Radio 3 FM, which, this week, is about Billy Strayhorn.
The Rolling Stones - A Bigger Bang, like most of their latter day albums, there is a good 40 minutes to be found in the hour plus playing time.
