On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
I think the solo albums of the Pink Floyd gang are a bit mixed but this is good'un.
Trent Dabbs
(2013)
A Feast of Consequences
I've not played this for a couple of years, without a doubt it's Fish's finest solo album conjuring up the best of the Marillion vibe but with his own on it take and a few bagpipes sprinkled in here and there, a super album.
Shaving mirror version originally released 1961 - One to have. ????
Tommy Turrentine – Trumpet
Paul Chambers – Bass
Lex Humphries – Drums
Wynton Kelly – Piano
Yusef Lateef – Sax (Tenor), Flute
Curtis Fuller - Trombone
Chet Baker Trio featuring Philip Catherine - Chets Choice - Criss cross Jazz 1016
Another fine release from 1985 on this Dutch label this Trio of Chet's with Belgian guitarist Philip Catherine and bassist Jean-Louis Rassinfosse had previously played more than 40 gigs together as a trio for over four years and so where pretty tight by the time they recorded this LP in 1985.
Just listsening to side 2 track 2 a fantastic reworking of Cole Porter's Love For Sale something a bit Talking Heads about that bass line brilliant.
every now and then, I feel like hearing this -- so, playing now -- and enjoying the kick-arse percussion !!
enjoy/ken
better play this as well before it gets too late to play at the volume that I like -- you can tell where the kettle drums are being struck -- and also the echo that follows -- sounds frighteningly 'real' !!
enjoy/ken

I haven't played this lovely album in a while and since I'm quickly noting new things in it I don't think I can have played the albums since the CD555 arrived.
Playing on Vinyl on Pink Dust Records - Solo album compilation by The Thirteenth Floor Elevators Vocalist Roky Erickson

Diana Krall - The Girl In the Other Room
Chris Jones & Steve Baker - Smoke And Noise

Just a few of my well-worn albums I have been listening to to put the 552 through its paces.
Paul Carrack - Soul Shadows.
Why, well after listening to the White album’s early version of Brother Malcolm I thought I’d give this a spin on Tidal, had it on cassette in the day.
Very 80’s production (pejoratively speaking), enjoying the memories but don’t think I’ll be rushing out to buy a physical copy.

I don’t need no 552, this is sounding lovely with my manky old 272.

Not the best recorded album, but virbrant, dynamic and imaginative as always. Distilled over time. Dubbed Artists Against Apartheid.
1979 - UK pressing...
Blondie - Eat ToThe Beat..
A typical Roon journey, Julian Lennon appears on U2’s songs of experience-> so U2 -> Bono’s production credits -> Andrea Corr”s first solo album, Andrea Corr’s cover of John Lennon’s No 9 dream on this album.
It’s surprisingly good actually.
