You tempt me to watch them.

I saw A New Hope when I was 17, a friend of my parent took me - and my verdict? A western in space. While this IS true I was something of a sci-fi snob. The fact is that it is a bloody good film. The next two just got worse for me. Hans Solo went from edgy and interesting to cardboard and boring, but the story arc of Skywalker, Vador and Palpatine just about kept it together - despite bloody teddy bears in space.

The prequels were broadly terrible, but with some great flashes of interest - that just made them more frustrating.

I just felt so sorry for the Younglings, a lovel family I am sure - arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope the next one is better - and yes, I am mug enough to go and watch it.

A story of an ad executive who creates a controversial media campaign opposing military dictator Augusto Pinochet during the referendum on his presidency in 1988.

Yes the Jedi temple scene is sick and also completely unbelievable given the complete lack of weight of Skywalker's fall to the dark side - for all we can judge, it's like he wasn't happy with wireless coverage and switched providers.

Still entertaining, though.

I like Jango Fett's sonic mines in the asteroid field (not sure which episode). The way that they suck all the sound out just before they detonate. I know there is no sound in space, but it is still cool.

A really good scifi movie about greedy corporations, DNA mutating in a human transforming them into the alien species, and some interesting characters.

Plus a non-PC sharp social critique cum Robocop hommage! Brilliant film.

It is brilliant. And the "Robocop" segment was quite the scene. I wish I had seen the movie when it first came out at the theater.

That early scene where Wikus burns the eggs is so cruel, and so funny! "You hear that, that popping sound? It's almost like popcorn"

Overview:
The directorial debut of Dustin Hoffman, Quartet is a high-drama comedy about temperamental divas and old grudges, passion and pride, romance and Rigoletto, starring Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly and Pauline Collins as four retired opera singers.

A nice touch was to have so many old characters in the film that were professional musicians and singers earlier in their lives.

Over past couple of nights I've worked my way through the Matrix movies

Difficult to believe the first one was released at the end of the nineties.  The third is probably the weaker of the three but all still very enjoyable, especially since I haven't watched them since I've installed a proper home theatre system.  And I still admire the talent that went into creating the storyline.

Just watched this on the laptop via Virgin's TV Anywhere feature (kinda cool).

Probably the worst/best B movie (isn't that the whole point?) EVER!

Sharknado.  Oh to be a fly on the wall when that one was first proposed.  Enough said, indeed...  That's going on the Lovefilm list.

Last night I watched Searching For Sugar Man.  This is a film that should appeal to everyone on this forum.  An incredible story about a brilliant musician that hardly anyone had ever heard about - except in South Africa where he had become a cult figure, but was assumed long dead.  Great music and straight after watching I ordered the album - on vinyl of course!

You won't regret watching it Richard. Brilliantly bad is the best way to describe it.

Apparently, Sharknado has been so successful that a sequel has been commissioned for 2014.

I probably am, in which case i apologise for not joining the crowd and , judging by the sponsors, I should just jump for joy but I think, with your permission, I will give it a miss this time.

Thanks anyway.
