Star Wars - The Last Jedi 

I hadn't read any reviews before watching this. Lesson learned. 

To my eyes, a mess of a film, where I was struggling and questioning myself on whether I had snoozed and missed bits. I hadn't. Nothing original, no character development, with characters coming and going when the 'why are they here' question remains fresh - topped off by a nonsensical plot, lame merchandising placement and some scenes which defy credulity/rationale, even for SW. IMV, TLJ is the worst of the SW films for me by some margin - even Attack of the Clones had originality.

Perhaps not the best of the Star Wars films, but we enjoyed it on the whole. It's certainly not "Crap", just not to everyone's taste.

How does it compare with Euan Lloyd's classic Who Dares Wins?  I haven't seen WDW for years but I notice it has been released by Arrow on Blu-ray, and their track record with their BR releases is rather good - their re-release of The Wild Geese and The Train are two of my favourites.

Don't know, haven't seen Who Dares Wins. 6 Days tells the story of the SAS rescue of hostages at the besieged Iranian Embassy in May 1980. Read that Who Dares Wins was inspired by that event but it seems a completely different movie to me. Is it any good?

Saw The Wild Geese a while ago, awesome movie. Top performances by Harris, Burton and Moore. Never seen The Train either. Is this released by the same Arrow as the others? Because it has a different sleeve than the other Arrow releases and it says "Arrow Academy" on the front.

Yup, WDW was loosely based on the events of the Iranian Embassy siege.  It has been a while since I saw it so difficult to make any judgements.  It may well have aged somewhat but I certainly enjoyed it around 30 years ago on VHS tape. Interesting to note that WDW starred Lewis Collins, one half of the TV CI5 pair, The Professionals.  The other half, Martin Shaw, appears in 6 Days. A coincidence?

Either way, I'm a big fan of Ewan Lloyd's productions - The Wild Geese, Paper Tiger, The Sea Wolves, Who Dares Wins etc..

The Train is superb.  A wonderful restoration of one of the very best war films ever made. Yes, it's also on Arrow - Arrow Academy, just a different sub-brand. 

Liked The Professionals, had a look at amazon uk but to pricey...

Can't order Paper Tiger blu-ray from amazon uk due to my location and only a spanish version of The Sea Wolves blu-ray is available there. Pity, they really look interesting. Ordered these three from Network. Got several dvd's from this studio but never seen a blu-ray from them, hope the picture quality will be good.

It looks like HMV currently have Arrow Video Blu-Rays on offer as well as some of the Eureka Masters of Cinema titles. 

My favourite Arrow titles, in no particular order, are;

Withnail & I, The Wild Geese, The Train, Stalingrad, Blow Out, Runaway Train, Dressed to Kill, The Long Goodbye, The Long Good Friday, Thief, The Burbs, Big Trouble in Little China, Ronin, The Thing, King of New York, Day of the Jackal and Invasion of The Bodysnatchers. 

From Eureka I have The Flight of The Phoenix, which is great (better than the more recent remake) and Guns of Batasi (Brilliant film). I've just ordered Paths Of Glory and The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes.

Saw it last year on Amazon I think - loved it. The music is by Nick Cave for God's sake and its set in west Texas - what more could you ask for.

Outstanding first couple of episodes, I hope it lives up to my childhood recollections.

The scriptwriting/acting is fantastic and themes are very mature, coupled with John Wayne western type humour.

Gosh. That takes me back.  I seem to recall it was a TV show in black & white.
