True Lies....

Forgotten what a good "Bond" Arnie made
Really good filmic transfer on the DVD too...

Perhaps The Rock after lunch to see Mr Connery playing another pseudo-Bond Smile

casino royale i thought it was agood film, not the james bond we all know, dts soundtrack was ok as well,, not bad for under £9 for a reg 3,which is released around a month before the reg 1 or 2 editions.

Finished Series5 of "24" last evening. Addictive viewing! I defy anyone to watch just one episode at a sitting! There are a few plot quibbles but generally very well constructed and put together.
I guess Series6 dvd will be out at the end of the year. Can't wait.

.... and full of the most obvious scandalous propaganda.

Sunday night watched 'Brokeback mountain'. Apart from the first 30 minutes or so when we couldn't understand a word of mumbling the film was an excellent insight into a narrow minded societies non acceptance of alternative relationships. Essentially a love story between two men, one clearly gay, the other seemingly more heterosexual. One guy very open to travel, more open minded, rich and the other poor, limited communication, narrow view on life but a very decent human being. Fascinating as the story develops how their separate lives and their time together intertwine.

Sad but excellent. A Beautifully shot and brave film from Ang Lee.

I saw Pot Luck (or Auberge espagnole, L' / Casa de locos, Una / Euro Pudding / The Spanish Apartment depending on the country you live in...) the other night. Good and fun, but I think the sequel 'The Russian Dolls' was quite a bit better.

Borat; was expecting it to be excruciating, but have to say it was done pretty well. I defy anyone not to laugh at the wrestling scene, albeit for some, reluctantly.

January 2006 some twit wrote:

'Inspector Morse 33 Episodes/DVDS &£69 from amazon.co.uk were surprisingly excellent watched over 5 days.

Having started off at beginning of 1987 Episode 1 with Rega RB300 on (?Logic? DM101 deck?- Episode about 'Richards Research Audio') he tended to favour cassettes (car use) before eventually in final 33rd 2000 episode showing us for the first time a CD - he had in between seemed to have JVC system then Yamaha stack.

Stereo sound on DVDs commenced in 23rd Episode/DVD. I won't mention the women/alcohol, although he favoured Wagner and thought Vivaldi is just for enjoyment. The sound/picture-quality/presentation of the DVDs is IMO fine/excellent apart from in the final 33rd Episode comical consultant surgeon badly miming church solo to a Faure Requiem piece.'

Same twit - me - coincidentally noticed that in 1st 'LEWIS' episode of 3 (there was a broadcast pilot January 2006) 'Those whom the Gods ...' broadcast Sunday 18th February 2007 ITV 1 that the villain is a rogue called LINN.

Acad
The fact that the proaganda in 24 is so obvious rather neutralises it. For heaven's sake lighten up.

The Departed - a friend of mine lent it to me. I must admit I was ambivalent about this one since I'm not much of a gangster movie man. That said, I thought it was very very good indeed. My wife was disappointed by the relatively abrupt ending which kind of came too quickly, even though this is a long film.

Is it worth Best Film? I don't know since I haven't seen the contenders, but it is a very good film.

Captains Courageous: Spencer Tracey. Great family film.

Roman Holiday: Gregory Peck & Audrey Hepburn. Romantic comedy/drama - saved from being too saccharine by a well judged ending. Not one I will re-watch.

"Flyboys". Got it from Amazon in the US. Good aerial shots: I actually read the novel on which it is based which was, not surprisingly, better. Still, a good "boy" film!

I think the first Morse episode "Independent HiFi manufacturer gone bad" and the first Lewis episode "Independent car manufacturer gone bad" has basically the same plot. Or?

Morse also had Naim amps in the first episode.

Angel-A. Excellent French film starring a model with the longest legs in history.

"George Of The Jungle!" Perhaps it is one joke for its whole length, but it made me laugh earlier on!

Good modern love story, told in reverse.

OK, promise not to tell my male friends:

I saw 'The devil where's Prada' and it was very good indeed! Done with humor and, of course, very good acting by Meryl Streep.

I actually had a boss (male) once that wasn't far from Meryl Streep's character in the movie. He never raised his voice yet everybody was dead frightened of him! After a couple of years he made some over smart career decissions and dissapeared from the scene...

Unless you've seen it already, you should put 'Man On Fire' on your list if you like Denzil Washington.

Try and obtain the full bit dts version of Man on Fire from Japan. Its a cracker of a soundtrack.
