don't ask me why but apart from the unicorn scene which does take away the ambiguity, I must be one of the few people in the world who actually quite liked the noir style voice over in the original release

Well I must confess I haven't watched it yet! I will soon though, since the box contains all 5 versions released.

If you excuse the over-bright speech sound track, (especially with the dentist's wife) this is a good movie. Fantastic acting by Jean Reno!

French with English sub-titles, but don't let that put you off! : )

Re-watched "Dead men don't wear plaid" last night.

A must for everyone who likes the classic film noir private eye movies. A black and white puzzle with a lot of old stars mixed-in the new action. Do you recognise them all? Great one liners

Hi guys;

I know it ain't a new one, but a few nights back I watched blood diamond. The movie has some very nice acting and is emotionally charged. It sheds light on a part of the world often ignored. It was one of the better movies I had seen in a while. Of course, there is that "the Americans come to save the world" attitude towards the end but not to the point that ruins the movie. I highly recommend it.

What finished me off was a DVD, not music, or a weeks's work or even a drink of beer/vodka/wine, or two!

I would have been fine but the actors were speaking with an accent! ZzZzZzzzzzz! Or so it seems ...

Hi all;

Watched this last night. Great sound effects. The speech needed a bit more concentration to follow than most movies on my system. Good enough story line and great action. Very fun to watch regardless of the fact that all the camera men in the movie appear to be over-caffeinated. lol. Very fun... I recommend it if an action movie floats your boat.

The Riddle Of The Sands (Rank) Classic based on the Erskine Childers novel re events prior to WW1. Story set in the Fresian Islands. Recommended.

Have worked my way through a lot of the episodes and agree with you that PMG is at his brilliant best throughout. The story-lines are superb and the whole series set a standard that is to be envied.

I've also been watching some John Gregson Gideon's Way DVDs and, once again, am enthralled by the quality of the stories and acting. You also see lots of now familiar actors in minor roles: John Hurt and Geoffrey Palmer for instance. Interestingly the music used in Gideon's Way is identical to that used in The Saint and some episodes of Danger Man.

I just watched this on the new projector. Lots of my friends had bashed this movie and said it sucks. I disagree! Great acting on behalf of Will Smith. The story line, although simple, conveys a nice tail of the will to survive as a basic human instinct. Reminded me for a while of "cast away" starring Tom Hanks. A good movie

My partner's daughter came over last night so we had a very gentle diet of movies. "Ratatouille" followed by the Disney "101 Dalamations". Both brilliant examples of the animationist's art, produced by totally different processes of course, but both able to communicate at various levels. I thought the rat movie was great - a blast as Frank A observed last week in fact.

In the last week we've watched three films, none of which I really fancied but all turned out to be quite excellent!
"Cars", just so observant, great characters, terrific animation too.

"Ratatouille", as mentioned above a truly superb film with a great & unusual story.

Last night, "Thirty Days of Night" on Blu Ray. My wife's a vampire junkie & so we settled down for the usual old tosh. A superior horror with some truly scary vampires, unrelenting action and an intelligent ending. Recommended. But don't take the dogs out for a walk in the dark after watching it!

No Country For Old Men.

On the surface it seems twisted in nature but the subplot is very thought provoking and it is beautifully filmed. In my opinion very worthy of the praise it has received. I did have to watch the final 10 minutes over and was glad I did.

Moulin Rouge!

Utterly insane, and a brilliant soundtrack!
