I find British films from this period interesting in themselves - almost regardless of merit. Great sheepskin coat.

With a fantastic music score by the young John Barry ... you can hear slight references to themes he used a couple of years later in From Russia With Love.

Flags Of Our Fathers - 2/10

Incoherent mess. Had the story been told in a straightforward way (a la 1950s or 1960s) then it could have been very effective but I felt nothing for the protagonists.

I'm not sure I can be bothered to watch the companion film, now.

A very good film, don't know how much is fact and fiction, but it's jolly interesting.

For some reason image isn't showing up.

Benjamin Button.

I know many didn't like this film but I did. Little things like his hair and aging process weren't quite right. But the story and thoughts about loss of love and family were right on. I'm in the middle of all that with my 87 yo parents.

Alice Neel
She's a cranky old woman with one hell of a story, great painter, wish I could get to be that good.

Seabiscuit.

Lovely film watched in the company of my niece and her mother, after they returned from Cornish holiday to Norfolk, stopping off in Worcester to rest.

My niece has just finished her A-levels and hopes to go to University to read Marine Biology.

this wigged me out, I had heard about the artist I didn't know about all the other stuff. I do art but I could never do the intricate stuff he does.

I enjoyed Sideways in the theater, nice to have entertainment with a story and not a lot of action and crashes. but them I'm 55, I like a good story and conversation.

Seabiscuit.

Bought last Friday week, and watched that evening.

I was in company. This evening, alon, the film has such a sad, noble and life enhancing spirit that I suppose it probably becomes my favourite fim bar none.

It is probably partly a question of having grown up with horses, and also a little horse, a mare who was too small to race, but still raced, and broke down, but survived to become a wonderfully kind natured brood mare. She was my pet - no one else's horse at all, and i learned to deal with horses from her.

She was a feisty beast and butter in my hands all at once and from her I learned the indomitable spirit that a great horse can have.

Among the animals only a dog has the same incredible and unreasinable bravery and nobilit

Sorry I am signing off now, convulsing

By spooky coincidence, Lovefilm delivered that to me for the weekend.

Great film, had a tear in my eye when he did it.

Bertolucci's The Last Emperor on Blueray

Last Friday I bought Zep's The Song Remains the Same. Fargo and Pixar shorts. I was waiting for my sister and husband to pick me up to go to my folks.

Yesterday I watched "the curious case of Benjamin Button"

What a movie! The drama and the scenario are second to non. The computer/makeup work is truely top notch too. However, for me, what made this an unforgettable movie was the human and emotional depth given to the characters and events. Makes u think, dream, wonder, smile and cry at the same time. Makes u appreciate life a bit more, I guess Smile

Yeah that's what I thought Flame, I'm 55, lost many friends and family over the years, I take care of my 87 YO parents now, dad was on the beach in D-day. That film really touched my heart. I liked the fact that it was a long movie, like getting into a good book.

I just signed up for Netflicks and spent 2 hours picking a lineup of films. Better than paying HD DirectTV and movie channels that play things over and over.

I figure I'll get into their concert DVDs and not be paying much for the best concerts around the world.

Instead of MJ's big farewell I watched bluray of Julie Taymore's Across the Universe, I thought it was a blast after the first couple of songs. I'll be showing it to a couple friends this evening.

Gawd I thought Benjamin Button was soooooo looooong and sooooooo booooooring.
Posted on: 15 July 2009 by Blueknowz
Another old favourite
Posted on: 15 July 2009 by mudwolf
yeah garyi, I would have too a decade ago but life makes changes and once you get into these situations you have empathy and understanding.

Last boring one I saw was that French film bell and the butterfly, something like that.
