1984 - Orwell - Burton - Hurt. Alpha plus.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy - Carre - Guinness at al. Also alpha plus.
Smiley's People - Carre - Guinness. Slow like paint drying but intriguing.
The Northwest Frontier - Fiction - Kenneth Moore - Herbert Lom - Loren Bacal. Wonderful fantasy.
Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machine - A grand caper with too many fine acting performances to choose!
ATB from George

The oldest thread still going on the Forum! Even older than the late first Polish Vodka thread!

I have been a fan of Tim Burton's "Nightmare before Christmas" for a long time, but have resisted the urge to buy the BluRay, as I already had the dvd.
Well I relented and bought the BluRay. It is absloutely fantastic. It feels like real 3D and the sound is much, much better.
I think this movie may be the best opera of the 20th century.

Seconded! One of my favourite films, great in BluRay and 7.1 HD sound to boot!

Riot at the Rite, BBC drama about the premier of Stravinsky's, The Rite of Spring, interesting , to see how much of a shock this seemed to be in 1913.

Avatar is a has an hour an a half of build up followed by a video game denouement.
A technical tour-de-force with probably Cameron's weakest script.

RE: Avatar, my boy likened it to my descriptions of first seeing 2001 or Star Wars, film changing.
