Yes, it is, Gian. The character in the film is so miserable that anyone watching it must feel better about himself.

The Road - I suppose 'depressing' will be most people's reaction but I mainly thought it was just a lousy film.
I have to agree with you Adam. Watched it some 3 or 4 months back and boy was it self torture. The movie even lacks a conclusion!
As for yesterday, I watched Avatar. The creativity was very very impressive. James Cameron must have consumed huge amounts of marijuana to come up with Pandora the way he did. The CGI that went into the production is amazing too. A superb movie that will be remembered for ever? No, but entertaining non the less.

I watched the new Clash of the Titans on bluray last night, quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen.
Mongo, I just started Dexter season 3, fantastic series.

There has been no release date set for season 4 on DVD/BluRay and there hasn't been any sign of FX or other UK channels showing it either. I do think it is very shoddy how Showtime are treating international fans of of such a good series.
There was a bootleg box set, which my partner bought thinking it was official, it started a thread about it - https://forums.naimaudio.com/ev...472948827#3472948827
DO NOT under any circumstances start looking at interviews about season 4 and 5, my partner found out one of the major events from series 4 when watching a short interview with Michael C Hall at the Emmies. It echoes in series 5, so don't watch any trailers, especially the one for series 5 on the web. I didn't know when we watched it, she didn't tell me, but I knew something would happen.
Series 4 is amazing if Showtime ever allow fans in the UK to see it properly, and John Lithgo's performance is quite something.
Before anyone asks, the box set has been lent to a friend who has watched it twice, and is now away on summer holiday.

Then you should(n't) watch 'Point Blank'.
Not the peerless John Borman 'original' but a Mickey Rourke farrago that I bought some time ago from Play - the lack of cover image lulling me into choosing the option with best price.
This film is a real stinker.

A german film with subtitles. The best climbing film I've seen and a very accurate account of the attempt to climb the North Face of the Eiger in the 1930s.

Just received this on blu-ray. Picture isn't anything to shout about but the soundtrack is excellent.

District 9
Very mediocre and rather amateur in the production. The concept and plot were very good though. If it existed a a book then I think it would be a very good one.

Just started what is probably my all time favourite TV series 'Homicide: Life on the Street', which is new to my partner. Based on a book by David Simon, who later became a producer in the later series, and went on to produce 'The Wire'.
If you like 'The Wire' this is worth giving a try, more character based, and less intricate in plot, I find it hard to pick between the two which I like most. Seeing the first episode back it looks a little clunky, but soon settles down to some of the best ensemble acting to grace the screen.

"Iris" about Iris Murdoch and her descent into Alzheimers. Not for the queasy but certainly worth it for story and performances, Winslet, Dench, Jim Broadbent won the oscar for good reason.

Well not on DVD, but in a hotel on demand. Sandra Bullock won best actress oscar for her performance, which I thought was very good, solid performance, but a generous award to win best actress. Nice film, a bit sentimental, but a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

This on the other hand was not worth spending 100 minutes with, it looked like the actors had great fun making it, but it amounted to nothing. A bunch of scenes that didn't fit together, overseen by a director who didn't have enough style to give any flow of visual character to try and knit them into something that worked. I suspect it was one of those films where the actors has all the power, and the director did what they were told, and the actors hammed it up in each scene to their hearts content.
Not a nasty or unpleasant film, but just not worth wasting your time on.

Film is O.K. but the music drove me crazy. It just had no relation to the content of the story.

I enjoyed Hear My Song very much - an interesting idea for a film and made me laugh out loud in a few places.

Probably another one like 'Little Voice', if you enjoy watching actors who are obviously enjoying themselves then I can see the appeal. I just didn't find any control in that or 'Hear My Song'.
Visually I didn't find much in either, but then they are not that kind of film.
