What was the last vinyl you bought?

Arrived today in the post:
Thumpermonkey - “Make Me Young, Etc” (as part of Vinyl/CD/t-shirt bundle)
Along with The Necks, Thumpermonkey are my equal favourite 'live' bands. At the recent Eppyfest-7 in Cheltenham, the band challenged the sound engineers skills (first class btw) and the PA's integrity. The opening track 'Veldt' was one of the most thrilling pieces of music I've heard at a gig. The streamed tune you hear from Bandcamp doesn't convey the power I heard that Saturday afternoon. When Rael Jones keyboard enters the fray, it felt like 5 mellotrons pushing you to the back of the hall. The scope of this album is the most diverse the band has made and worthwhile hearing on Bandcamp when it's released, which hopefully encourages you to buy it. The band have been playing and developing most of the album over the last 3 years, so I'm already familiar with it, albeit without the orchestrations captured in the studio.
Album Launch - 11 Oct from WGT - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/438848

Thanks for that Denis. I listened to the track, Veldt, twice on my MacBook and even through its tiny speakers it's rather good. It does make me curious about the rest of the album.
Really interesting was that for £300 you can have a private acoustic show at a venue of your choosing. Hmmm...

I can assure you Richard, the guys are consummate musicians and you wouldn't regret booking them.
Rael Jones is a composer in his day job and has a number TV & Film credits to his name. In fact, I presented him with a tin of Heinz Beans for 1 million plays on Spotify for the soundtrack to 'Suite Française' (we get on well).

I'd also recommend Rael's solo album - Mandrake. It's a 9 track album of cinematic chamber music by composer and multi-instrumentalist, written for string quintet, piano and acoustic guitars. Rael told me that at some stage a follow up album will be released, but I think that means Blue Nile timescales http://www.thegenepool.co.uk/items/1194.htm

I'm more excited about this Grateful Dead set than the Led Zepps 'The Song Remains The Same' that also arrived here today... or will it be; 'The SQ Remains The Same' (?)

Bach: Vikingur Olafsson, piano

Inspired by seeing and hearing Courtney Pine play in concert a couple of weekends ago, I purchased Black Notes From The Deep on vinyl LP.
Glad I did too, as it's really good and also features the vocals of Omar on four of the tracks. And a nice, flat, centred LP that's low in noise and with great sound too - well done MPO for a good pressing. Only grumble is the paper inner sleeve. Is it really going to break the bank to specify a decent lined inner sleeve?

Stone Foundation - Next Time Around/Carry the News 12" single Ltd Edition of 500
The B-Side Carry the News features Paul Weller, Mick Talbot & Steve White the first time the three members of
The Style Council have recorded together in almost thirty years so quite something for a fan like me.

I Will have to buy this for both Courtney and Omar whose tone I have always loved great voice all the way back to 'Nothing Like This' in the late 80's he's a very underated singer.
Bob, it's a most enjoyable record and, as you say, Omar has a lovely voice.
It also includes a high res audio DVD of the album that I have no idea what to do with.
If you don't have a high quality DVD Audio player, and you have the correct software on your computer, you could rip it to high resolution files for playback on a suitable media player or streamer.

That's kind of what I was getting at. The only streamer I have is a Sonos Connect. I'd like to replace that with a ND5 XS2 but my credit card is crying out out for a break seeing as since August this year I've gone through a major upgrade program of CD5si, Nait XS2, Rega Aria, Rega RB808 and a Dynavector 20X2L. I'm more of a vinyl and CD sort of guy so I'm not convinced I'd really get value for money from a ND5. The Sonos Connect is mainly for internet radio and try before you buy on albums and with a good interconnect to the Nait XS2 it doesn't sound too bad at all. Not up to the standard of my other sources of course but fine for casual listening,

I'd stick with enjoying the LP then. It's a good one - I purchased this reissue as well and can highly recommend it.
