Read the story here. It's a good read even if you're not into MVB as it involves some dodgy record label shenanigans and some technical insight - http://pitchfork.com/features/interviews/8809-kevin-shields/

I'm sure there'll be worse things at the Olympics, but judging by his performance on Andrew Marr this morning, is this really the best they could come up with? A third-rate Sting, vaguely 'hip' about 20 years ago...

Apart from occasionally delving into a best of album in my collection I've not really come across Van Morrision much. I bought Moondance a few days back and have really been enjoying it. I've got Astral Weeks on order but would appreciate some...

I have been looking for a Procol Harum CD with Whiter Shade of pale, Pandora's Box & Conquistador included. Just looking on Amazon there seems to be a problem with the remasters. The album I have with Conquistador included is of terrible sound quality. Does anyone know which album is of good SQ and where I can get it from? Thanks & Regards Huw

All, Picking up from another discussion, perhaps time to start a new thread on the best up and coming pianists currently active on the podia and recording? My first stab: - Anna Vinnitskaya: three official discs so far, including a promising debut recital, and a great follow-up (Ravel and Prokofiev concertos). Her recent disc with Ravel solo piano music shows her finding her way in this repertoire, interesting but as of yet I think slightly out of her league. - Rafal Blechacz: one of the...

Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch has died, aged 47 after battling with cancer for a few years. Part of the band that infuenced a generation and countless artists and bands(New Order?). Will be sadly missed. R.I.P. Tony

Hi all, This is a rant and let me tell you why.  I look through the internet and for some bizarre reasons, all the high definition tracks are on genres of music that I think are selective.  This is primarily jazz and opera.  Now I...

There are a reasonable number of classical & Jazz tracks available in HD and Linn, B&W & Naim do have a small number of other genres available. It would be good to have a list of pop, rock, folk type artists who make their tracks or albums available in Europe off their own website's or even from smaller labels. For my part I only know of: Peter Gabriel - more recent releases Kate Bush - 50 Words for Snow

I heard the Shostakovich symphony no. 1 for the first time and I really liked it.  It was a live performance by the St. Louis symphony.  Does anyone have opinions about the best recorded performances of this? ThanksWeldon
