Has anyone else spotted that recent naim label recors are not quite spectacular in terms of dynamic range? I found the bass in the Stuart McCallum's CD to be overblown. His album and the last from Neil Cowley Trio /which I found as great in terms...

My copy of this was waiting on the mat when I got home tonight, and wonderful it is too. People suspected that Dear Heather might be is his last, but no, here is another and better still. Lugubrious, mellow and ubercool. Buy, buy, buy!

Apologies if this has been posted about before, but I just ordered this: The Perfect Jazz Collection Box - Volume 2 From Amazon, but I'm sure available elsewhere. It is the second of two such box sets, each with 25 whole albums in with repros of the original artwork (a bit like the Deutsche Gramophon Classical boxes I guess). I've got a couple of the contents, (which was why I preferred the second set as it fills more holes). Although I know there's a lot of cheap jazz around at the moment,...

After going round all the secondhand and charity shops buying vinyl I have come to thinking that if there was a chart for the most purchased album it would have to be this  This must have sold millions when this first came out. No matter where...

All Just received a Back to Black pressing of Supertramp Breakfast in America. Sound quality and packaging is superb but pressing quality is poor. Constant crackles some really loud and surface noise through out. I have cleaned it...

Fellow music lover, Dandelion radio is now the home of the Festive Fifty and they have just published the chart for 2011. It's based on votes from the programme's listeners. I believe they broadcast the chart around Christmas so it's been around...

Ok, I've tried; I've REALLY tried but, jeesh, Kate Bush's latest is complete tripe. She reminds me of Dory from Finding Nemo! Maybe I need to speak whale to enjoy it...

Not sure if this has been considered or even mentioned before.  Would it be a good idea to have separate sections for different types of music - e.g. jazz, pop, classical, etc?  I realise many people like to look through the whole thread...

I am looking to treat myself to this on vinyl and the cheapest I can find it is around £68 including postage!! Is it really worth spending this much on one box set? What is the quality like, up to the usual PT & Tonefloat standard?

Hi folks, I'm totally impressed by G.Sokolov- this piano player was new to me and after 5min (playing some Chopin in radio) he got me.... How is the quality of his recordings? Any experience (noisy, lush etc)? Many thanks, Ralf

Having read the other day that my vinyl copy of Kate Bush's "Ariel" is worth a king'sransom these days, I thought I'd drag it out from the LP heap & give it a spin. It's not had much airplay as I'm not a huge fan, but to my ears it's probably the best of hers. A couple of crackles and pops on the first side so a quick spin on the Moth and after cleaning side 2 of the second LP I just happened to notice a rather nasty-looking ding in the vinyl which felt like quite a dent...

I found this on a trawl of Youtube. In my view the most significant find I have yet made on that site: It is immensely long, the sonics are dreadful, and the picture quality also dire, but the content shows the life of one the greatest...

Three recommendations from me; Joy Division Heart and Soul The 2 studio albums with all the singles plus rare stuff such the Ideal for Living EP and some live material. The equivalent New Order set, Retro, is nowhere near as good, unfortunately. John...

Hi, My brother-in-law had about 100 his old records which he bought during his studies in the UK in the 80's. He passes them to me today and found some are good conditions but some are bad. I believe it is due to the storage problem and he did not...
