Growing up in New Orleans is a town where you always here music if you are out and about, even if only for a few blocks, or at least that's the way I remember it.If lyrics move you, just forget New Orleans music, any words will do. It's not unusual...

Assuming someone here has London Calling in their collection. As far as production & sound quality is concerned, how is it thought to rate? I ask because it's the only Blu-Spec CD I have. I don't have it on ordinary CD. I listened to it last night through headphones (CD5 i ,Graham Slee Solo, Grado SR225i) - first time on headphones, normally listen out loud. It sounded absolutely amazing. I've actually been thinking about selling the Slee because I find so many CDs difficult to listen to, it...

This one snuck up on me, at least partly due to the fact that I wasn’t exactly looking for a new recording of Bartok’s piano concertos. The last new set I bought was Boulez’s with the trio of famous contemporary pianists, and that...

For some few months now, I have been making a study of this piece. I was attracted to the poly-rhythmic feel of the music, and the unusual orchestration. The poly-rhtyhmic feel of this work is the result of combining lines that are syncopated with...

A visitor to a recent Hi-Fi show I attended, pulled out this CD and requested I play it. I gladly accepted and as soon as the first notes were played, I realised that the tempo, which was considerably slower than usual, made the piece sound "right"....

If anybody was after the Kinks' Arthur re-master on a special vinyl pressing then this has been delayed yet again .... TBH I don't think it'll ever come out now - I'm used to Mr D announcing things and then cancelling them perhaps he's Gone Dancing.

I have spotted some 180g vinyl reissues on Virgin of Phaedra and Rubycon. Both are from digital remasters originally done in 1995. In addition Lilith have put out 2 compilations; Mysterious Semblance at the Strand of Nightmares & Run To Vegas. Has anyone heard them? Are they any good?

Released a few weeks ago. It's a 'blinder'! If you love 'Live in Europe' period Rory, you'll love this. Same kind of quality.Recorded live for Radio Bremen in three sessions 1971-2, for 'Beat Club' their respectable music programme.
