Your starter for 10.... At the age of 14 this stopped me in my tracks.Jono
Hi all,This question has to be asked as I can tell that there are many jazz fans on the Naim forum. Now, I own about 10 CDs that I regard as jazz and bought them incidentally over the years due to their fidelity being SACD/HDCD.Now I would love to...
whats your favorite song by this artist mine is on a beach i was 14 when i first herd it in 1986.tel
Hi all,I thought I'd ask this question as I know Naim don't offer an SACD player. Has anyone heard this remaster (and yes I expect all Floyd fans to own this version of the CD, as I do!)??I heard rumours that WYWH was being released in SACD and this...
Who heard (& saw) the MGM night at last Saturdays Prom ??? The John Wilson Orchestra – John is the arranger and conductor. His score was as close as I have heard to the originals. A full Big Band line up in the orchestra – WOW could those guys hit it !! 5 top class singers who were near perfect. Kim Criswell, Curtis Stigers & Seth MacFarlane were outstanding, real singers who could swing like the old guys. Thomas Allen although his magnificent self most of the time, unfortunatly...
Desperately cringeworthy shite. What kills me was the way they, to a man, still seem to take themselves so seriously. Surely one or two of them must realise it was utterly awful. Thank you Jesus for the cleansing fire of punk.
Hi Guys Now I have two Led Zep albums 2 & 3 and have had them for about a year now and when I flick through my collection and come to these albums I think Ooo! I'll play some Led Zep and a few tracks in I think this is really good in a musical sense but leaves me cold emotionally. I appreciate the quality of the playing but really don't get a sense of what Led Zeppelin are to others. I get the feeling I'm listening to a great Country Rock tribute band. I know they are probably just not my...

When drum 'n' bass star Goldie came second to Sue Perkins in the strangely absorbing BBC2 series Maestro, it provoked mixed feelings. On the one hand, Perkins was a better amateur conductor and deserved to win; on the other, Goldie's way with an...
Not too often do I go to a gig knowing nothing of a jazz outfit and come out blown away. Well that happened to me last night at the opening night of the 31st Edinburgh Jazz&Blues festival. Roy Hargrove and his quintet were simply fantastic, New Orleans style jazz, Miles-alike control, Funky numbers, lovely guest vocalist. Just an great show from a great talent. If he's doing any shows in your area I'd strongly recommend availing yourself of a good time. Check him out on youtube for a free...

I believe any performance where the artists unfailingly executes his exact intentions, and those intentions have an internal logic that relates all the notes into a cohesive whole, and is also note and rhythm perfect, then that performance has...
Growing up in the 80's put me right of Phil Collins, however out of curiosity was any of his Genesis stuff any good and if so where would be a good place to start?Regards
Anyone else on 'Get 'em Out By Friday' have sounds coming from way behind the listening position during the spoken 'apology'?.I've actually looked behind twice to check it wasn't something real!!.GraemePS It's the 2008 remaster which is a bit sharp in...
Herbert Schuch’s debut recording from 2005 is an amazing disc. Schuch was in his mid-20s when he recorded this, and the artistry he displays is something one might expect from someone a bit older. Except in one regard: Schuch imposes his...
Is this any good, and if it is good is it a decent recording,Dont want to throw away a tenner on a punt.david
GFFJ frequently expounds on the art of playing string instruments, and especially the bass. I frequently write on the playing of brass instruments. But find function turns up nothing of note about the playing of woodwinds, keyboards and/or...

I am never quite content to let the Brandenburg Concertos - so beloved by me - simply exist in any particular set of recordings, so I probe new avenues every now and then. Two days ago I was played some MP3 downloads of new recordings [from EMI/Virgin/Veritas] of Violin Concertos that struck me as splendid though the purveyor of the [illegal] downloads was unable to furnish me with the performers' identities, or the original publisher's name. However, Chi Chi Nuanuko is a singular bass...
Hi,I've just received my copy of the new Gwyneth Herbert album - All the Ghosts on the Naim Edge label and what a stonking good release it really is, strongly recommended. Personally I think Simon Drake has made great strides with the label and the...
Bought a wood effect CD rack while back which only held about 70% of my collection. I've now bought another and, by definition, it's only about a third full with the left overs... Boy - do I now want to go on a CD spending spree to fill it up.Thank...
Anyone familiar with this piece? I heard it the other night on my classical station, quite nice.Mathieu Andre:: Quebec Concerto, Alain Lefvre, piano Quebec Sym. Orch./Talmi - Analetka 9814
