Has anyone seen him live? I have only just seen the ad in the metro and thought it might be worth going, is anyone else going?John
How often do you watch a television programme and hear a song that makes you want to look up the artist who sings the song. I was watching an episode of an american comedy called "scrubs" a few weeks ago and there was a gentleman with a guitar singing...
Just got this in from the Van Morrison web site if anyone is interested. Tickets on exclusive Live Nation presale now! On general sale from 9am Friday Presale Tickets are only available to Live Nation members - but don't worry, registration is...
Has anyone bought this box set and would like to comment on it? It's quite an expensive set (£82), particularly when you've already got the original LPs, the original CDs, the definitive edition remaster CDs etc. But the review in Hi-Fi+ was...
Did anyone else here listen to this programme?I was completely stunned by the purity of her vocals and the musicianship of the backing band. Thus encouraged, I went to buy a CD. I ended up with "Raising Sand" where she sings with Robert Plant....
Is it me, or has this triple set got just about the deepest, fullest bass I've heard on a recording? In the context of MA it works great, but it does make my living room sound like a Citroen Saxo with skirts on it and blue LEDs underneath.
The title got you didn't it I'm not sure if many of you have heard of this duo, both classically trained, and a rather unusual and varied style Here This is an interesting one to start you off, but have a look through some of the other videos Barrie

Does anyone know where the picture on the front of 'Secondhand daylight' comes from?It looks vaguely like Rodin (I'm no expert...)Any ideas? Thanks
Anyone have this? I'm wondering what the quality of the pressing is? Only £20 or so and the actual tracks are great.CheersAndy
This idea was stolen from the Danny Baker radio show. Imagine that a totalitarian government has taken over and decreed that you can only own one album per musical genre. What would you choose?Anyway here’s my suggestions:Jazz: Miles Davis...
Do I go for the the recent Cisco, Universal Japan, new Back to Black versions or an original?
Hi, Coupled with my last thread that I started, I have a CD recorded in 4-D of Tchaikovsky (Swan Lake, Romeo & Juliet; Nutcracker) and the fidelity is really high. It is simply classified as recorded in 4-D and I will see if I can post a picture below. Are there any other CDs recorded this way? Many thanks! Jon PS Sorry but I couldnt find a picture; I reckon some of you also have this disc, but I just cant find a picture!!
When you are engaged in a conversation with someone, a lot of her meaning is in the way she says things. Things that are difficult to see in the printed word. That part of the conversation is where the love might live - or something more sinister.An...
Principally, by accident of circumstance. You "bump into" them. But you don't stay with everyone. Sometimes, they convince you.The reasons are as different as the people who do the finding. You could fill 1000 posts with the proclamations of...
Just been listening to this. Very much in keeping with his other foray into the Orient with Molam Dub.The Chinese singing is very shrill and takes a bit of getting used to but Chinese Dub contains some of the deepest bass from Jah W that I have heard...
Every now and then the Smithsonian Folkways Collection hits the net and these podcatst may well be worth a listen to those who follow the history of American Folk. quote:This series of 24 one-hour programs explores the remarkable collection of music,...
I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some good jazz vocal LP's. Vinyl is my main source. I have some Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, etc. I am looking for some new suggestions, "diamond in the rough" type. Preferably older releases...
Im going Friday, must admit to feeling incredibly excited, as I never saw them first time round.Any of you going, or who saw them in Oxford earlier this week, would love to hear your views...
Living in LA you'd think there'd be the best FM rock, but it's old and stale and lots of commercials. Suddenly I hear a great station called The Sound 100.3. It's just amazing, they go back to the 60s all the way to today. I've been listening...
Hi,This is a quick question that I'd be really grateful the forum could help with! I know there are some of us Naimers who scorn the artificial illusion put forward by recording engineers (wanting sound to be a cohesive whole), but others (myself...
I did comparative listening of the Abkco Beggars banquet SACD and my original London vinyl. The LP is clearly damaged but the SACD sound is not so convincing. . Has any of you had the opportunity to make this comparison using a pristine LP? Alain
