I just had iTunes on random and found myself suddenly hypnotized for about 14 minutes listening to Ravel's Bolero performed by Ernest Ansermet and L'orchestre de la Suisse Romande. I remember years ago hearing a Karajan version and not liking it...

Hi All I am just starting to dip into the world of classical music, and must admit it is very daunting. I have stumbled across Erik Satie (Gymnopedies & Gnossiennes) and so far this is ticking all the right boxes. My very naive and probably silly question is from this are there any tips as to what I should sample next. Does this point to a direction/ composer etc. Cheers Karl

Hi@all!!!Since I happily own and LOVE the Zep-Replica-box and I just read online that the "Remasters" (I have the 4-CD-version) may be not as good as the SHM-CD-replicas, I "assembled" the 4 CDs with the exact same songs, taken from the SHM-CDs. ...

I was driving home the other day from helping my parents out. They had given me some money and I hadn't splurged on vinyl in a Loooong time (years) tho I'd upgraded preamp last summer to a 52 Scap. I veered left at the 101 freeway in LA and headed to...

Actually it is a rather silly idea, but since the threads here are very long I found it easiest to start a new thread, and it is the season for compiling these lists.Actually I have only one record to start with, but a fantastic must buy record, both...

I missed this one when it came out in the summer. After seeing it in so many best of the year lists I took a punt.Much more experimental than their earlier work and all the better for it IMO. Good recording as well. Highly recommended.

Hi, I had to ask this question to all you Floyd fans.I have just re-discovered this album now I have a 252 system and I am impressed with the quality of the recording - considering it was released in 1967. It's great foundational music for their later...

I think it is this gem of unsurpassed mastery, but there be other contenders. The swirling organ riffs and multilayered guitar-and-feedback washes are characteristic of psychedelic music and songs that are surreal in their lyrical content - songs are...
