Here are some to consider, but do you know any more?
I am looking into adding a vinyl source to my Supernait/Flatcap2x/CD5x, and have come across an LP12/Ekos/Lingo without a cartridge. I am considering MM designs like the Clearaudio Maestro or MC designs like the Lyra Argoi, for example, and will...
If you've done this a thousand times since Christmas, you'll have to excuse me, but I'm new.But tell me folks...With all the excitement around the Led Zep O2 show that the population of the world and the outlying closest planets all tried to attend,...
Does any one know/recommend any place to hear organ recitals? SE corner of the country preferably.I'm thinking big pieces in big places. TIAHoward
I've been putting this post together for a little while for two reasons: first, I was getting bored with listing, every time someone asked for classical recommendations, all the good threads we've had on that and, secondly, because a few threads have...
It's out & SO good! Toumani IMHO is the undisputed master of the kora (West African Harp/Lute). Some more details from the World Circuit website ... The Mandé Variations breaks new ground for the kora in many ways, establishing this West African harp as one of the world's great solo musical instruments. Superbly recorded so that we can hear every touch of the strings, every throb and creak of the instrument's wood and sinew, it is an African classical album that rocks and swings,...
could someone please recommend the best c.d recording of 1812. thanks
Does anyone know what the piece of music at the beginning of this video is called? And if you recognize the performance, or know of others that you like, please feel free to share them as well. Thanks.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2ZLeZCq3bE
I've just watched their new live DVD for the first time and I'm completely gob smacked at how good it is. For those who don't know them their music is a beautifully melodramatic flavour of hard rock with some electronics thrown in, and vocals to die...
I just looked on wikipeadia and it says the song is a witty spoof on 1930s High Society, apparently the first line "She get's too hungry for dinner at Eight", being significant.Ok, I'll buy that, but after having heard or listened to the songs more...
This is just so funny. its 3 minutes long, watch it all, keep your eye on the subs. Oh and sorry if you like the song - this woman destroys it. I KEN LEEE
My wife and I saw Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band last night and it was very good. Bruce has lost nothing over the years and is just short of Mick in stage presence.I have seen him 6 times before but this was the best show since 1986. We had...

Here's a thread for a boring Friday afternoon. Can anyone think of any celebrities who are fans of incongrouous artists?I've got three.First there's snooker player Steve "Interesting" Davis, who, interestingly enough is a huge soul buff, and a fan of...

I was reading through some threads a while back and I came across a thread that requested jazz reccomendations. Someone responded and suggested Wayne Shorter. I have not had time until tonight to obtain some Wayne Shorter music, but I am now...
Anyone ordered anything from these? The claims made are strong - but they look like they may be CDRs with artwork. The attraction is a couple of albums that are no longer available on CD.Steve
Bach and the Lutheran legacy tonight. I missed the 8 o clock show but it's repeated at 1am, if anyone else is interested.Nigel

AllJazz is a music genre that I have thus far avoided. The stuff that I have heard I just haven't enjoyed.Recently however I have heard some modern jazz that sounded pretty good to me, it was more upbeat and rhythmic, digesting it was easier than I...
I recently bought Trisector (it’s playing on the ipod now and was on in the car on the way to work).Yesterday, I went to see VdGG live for the third time in the last few years. I was at the re-union gig at the RFH which remains the best I've...
Anyone else caught it?'Purple Haze' played on what sounds like medieval instruments cracks me up.Marvellous. Looks like an interesting series.John.
UNCUT magazine [UK] comes with a CD of tracks that influenced Led Zepplin ... it's called 'When the Levee Breaks' ... John Lee Hooker Blind Willie Johnson Elvis Presley Bukka White Memphis Minnie Robert Johnson etc ... It's not super -- most [all ??] of the tracks are mono -- but for a fan it's useful. It concentrates on the blues influence on Led Zep. I have an earlier CD [I cannot remember the magazine] called 'The Roots of Led Zepplin' which was a lot better and had a lot more folk music...
