Music Room
Had a first listen this morning. For those of you taken with the recent Plant/ Krauss release, this is authentic old timey, bluegrassy sounds. Also (obviously) reminiscent of The Band in places. It sounded like a real grower, I'll be slapping it back...

Anyone else at the O2 on Saturday?Impressive venue. Well staged show .....but, in all honesty I think they could have lost 10db to the advantage of the show.It was SO loud that the musicianship was be masked/lost in the amplification. This comment...
I have just received a CD by Wiliam Hayes (1708-1777), having heard a track on Radio 3 the other day. It's Concerti Grossi on the Capriccio label. The sleeve notes say that he is largely forgotten, and better known as a Handel scholar than a composer...

Our New Year resolution is to go to a classical concert; and who knows maybe more than one! Neither of us are huge classical fans but our collection (of modern and early choral music especially) is growing and we fancy hearing some live. Can anyone...

One of my favourite online retailers has shut down it's online site. OK they weren't the best delivery wise but over the years I got some good bargains from them and had a good report with their customer services manager.Another one bites the dust.
Ok, so there is a lot of dross around when it comes to Christmas music, but for some reason this year I've been playing quite a lot of it. I'm toying with the idea of adding some more to my collection. I have at least a couple in mind. And no, they...

Hi,Have any of you tried using a permanent green marker and drawn a line round the circumference of your CDs??!!I have heard that it improves sound quality as the CD laser can pick up more information.Does anyone agree with this?Jon
Some good stuff here and a little less eclectic possibly than Rough Trade. So they could have a Show called 'This Morning's not quite Eclectic enough' Vote hereRegardsDiccus

Is it a good work?well, the critics rave the album!
i often find that, for a few days, i get locked into a certain album (especially vinyl) and i end up playing it quite a few times. over the weekend, it was Joe Cocker's "Organic", and then today, i have been playing Crosby Stills & Nash -- "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes". i havent played this 180g pressing since i bought it a long time ago. because i have a lot of vinyl, i often "discover" something that i had actually forgotten i had. On CD i have been playing Eric Bibb's "Spirit and Blues" quite a...

In past weeks, I've seen some great footage of Bob Dylan at the Newport Folk Festivals in '63 and '65, in New York, etc.. It brought back memories of growing up in Rhode Island, of missing the 1st 2 acts of Aida in the '66 Newport Opera Festival...

Can some one please tell me if the new 'remaastered' two disc Led Zepplin CD in the charts is of good sound quality (ie not the usual over produced, thin crap a lot of CDs are now)? I would like to experience the Zepplin music through my Naim kit for...
