Don McClean. Listening to one of my all time favourites in 24 bit for first time. Wonderful! Especially the piano on American Pie. For any of you who knew it first time around, dive in!

15 day sale on Eric Clapton on Qobuz, those with sublime can get back catalogue for under £5 as 24/192 HiRes (£4.98) I haven't got any of his albums but buying a few at this price, might be worth a look for those keen on his new and back catalogue on a sale.

I am interested to hear from anyone who owns the 3 LP pressing of Kamasi Washington The Epic. I was interested in buying this until I noted that total playing time is 172 mins. Which equates to an average playing time of 28.7 mins per side. This seems to be pushing what's realistically achievable in terms of playing time, usually not much more than 20 mins is the norm before SQ suffers. Can anyone who owns this please offer any comment on SQ and pressing quality?

That Pet Sounds and Blonde on Blonde were released (pretty good day for music, I guess). For anyone who's interested there's quite an interesting BBC Radio 4 doc about it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b079pqc t

Hello Anyone tried the 24bit WAV download at US$19...? I prefer having the CD where possible so it's almost worth waiting for the physical copy unless the hi-res option is stellar.

Interesting this is now coming to a head, 45 years after the fact. I'm a fan of both bands but admittedly never heard Spirit's "Taurus" before I caught wind of this. Listen to "Taurus" in its entirety and the similarity is rather overwhelming.

Always a joy to read in 'Hi-Fi Corner' & 'Streaming Audio' posts which highlight a particularly album/track that is used as a 'test' disc. Here's some in recent posts:- "...The track that convinced me was from the Trio album (Dolly, Linda and Emmylou) in hi-def, To Know Him is to Love Him. With a single 555PS, the duet was two girls (!?) singing into the same microphone. Add a second 555PS and the ladies separate by a couple of feet in the soundstage, with one slightly behind and to the...

Hello every one. I am looking to purchase a CD or two from Decca and was wondering what the forum members would recommend? I have found two that are advertised. One I know which I can purchase locally in Australia is: 1. Opera Gold: 50 Greatest Tracks 3 CDs 2. Opera Gold: 100 Greatest Tracks. 6 CDs I am open to others thoughts. What do I like? Wagner, Handel, Male Tenors and anything angelic if that makes sense. Thank you for your time and recommendations. I should add that I do not have a...

Good bit of enjoyable nostalgia (I thought) from this half hour programme covering some background to the albums ‘Blonde on Blonde’ and ‘Pet Sounds’ both released on 16 May 1966. Just mentioning in case anyone interested but not aware of the broadcast. It got me digging out and playing both albums for the first time in a few years. Cheers

Hi to all, While listening to Cognitive by Soen I started to consider where did this style of music originate? I love Progressive Rock, Marillion were the first band I got "into" with this type of sound. But where did they get their influence? Genesis, some may argue! Before that I would Listen to the Human League, Ultravox etc (and still do occasionally) Were the Human League the first? I do believe they were the first group to use only Synthesizers? So, If you pick a Genre, who started it,...

A real blockbuster of a line up. Could be North America's biggest concert event since Woodstock (47 years ago), except that the headliners are all over age 70. At $400 dollars for the weekend pass, the ticket prices are not unreasonable, although I suspect that cost is merely the tip of the iceberg involved in the three day soirée.

I bought a couple of Linn downloads today. Previously they were charging £10 for CD quality (£12 for the physical CD) and £18 for studio master. They are now charging £12 for the CD quality and £15 for the studio master, whether 96k or 192k. Whereas before I often just bought the CD quality, because £18 is nearly double and seems an awful lot. But £15 seems much more reasonable, and is only £3 more, so I bought them both in studio master. I suppose Linn get £10 extra off me, but I sort of...

Until recent, my buying pattern for high res audio music could be planned. I looked at new music, with my Qobuz sublime subscription I got the music considerably cheaper then anywhere else. As a bonus they had sometimes additional discounts. Since shortly I have seen that they are very restrictive and even selective in offering new music. Especially in jazz I miss now quite something and it doesn't seem to make sense to wait anymore and just get it from high res audio who seems to have the...

conversation today with my wife: she: "you seem to be leaving your HiFi playing all the time recently. Did you realise you left it on all night at low volume yesterday?" me: " ah, yes, that's deliberate. I'm trying to burn in a new interconnect cable. It improves with use and they say needs hundreds of hours to sound it's best" (sideways look of incredulity from she..) she: "is that the £1800 cable that you want me to get you for your birthday?" me: "yes" she: "I would say that a company...

can anyone confirm the distortion I'm hearing on the track 20/20? I was on the verge of calling my dealer as I thought I had a blown tweeter but it seems that it plays the same on another system.... Sounds like it's "farting" when the beat kicks in....

Nerina Pallot is currently on her UK tour and last night I had the privilege and pleasure of watching her live in Manchester. The venue was the Gorilla, which is one I had not been to previously but one that I hope to visit again because it was a lovely intimate venue with really excellent sound. My wife and I were quite literally touching the stage, or resting our beer on the stage as the case may be. After a decent support act Nerina came on stage at 9pm with a three piece band supporting...
