Help...................... I bought a cassette of Om Kalsoum in Tangiers in the early 90's from a street market after being blown away by her singing. She is I think Eygyptian and was noted to be the Edith Piaf of Eygypt. There are a number of her cds...
Hello TMP,What in your opinion is the best 'sound quality' version of WYWH? I have the remaster and was wondering if there was a superior copy.RegardsGeorge.
I'm getting bored with no new topoics in this music site. Just wondering if anyone has her in their collections? I read her biography 10 years ago and really enjoyed it. But now she's turned into a ballad singer with a great sultry voice. She's even...
Check Out June 29th & October 25th 25th. Saw the gig last year with Steve Howe, it was brilliant, & he was realy playing to the crowd. Cant wait for this years shows, & I have just got tickets for the October gig. The venue is small, and the atmosphere generated here is always fantastic.
Fancy seeing Paul for the 2nd time this year? he seems to be turning into a gigaholic. If you are a progger (prog rock lover) like myself, you also tend to be very focused on music choice. What I would like to know is which albums/songs you enjoy outside the prog rock scene. Here are some I listen quite a lot: . T2 - It'll all Work out in...

I spent a very enjoyable two hours yesterday listening to Mackerras's wonderful recording in English (the only one, I believe) of Mozart's Magic Flute. It strikes me (as it did at ENO a few weeks back for Makropulos) how fine opera can be when in...
I love this work and consider it my favourite Dvorak symphony. I've previously enjoyed versons by Sir Colin Davis (Philips) and Raphael Kubelic (DG).However, I've just been given a disc as a present. It's on a label called Lodia that looks as if...
I've been listening non-stop to some klezmer records lately. This stuff is incredible. Also I was lucky enough to go to a Jewish wedding last week - I was doing security, sad that it's needed at such things. Anyway they had a klezmer band playing and...
Recent postings with pictures have revealed that, besides wonderful sources, amps & speakers, some members have incredible collections of music on vinyl and cd. The volume was such that I couldn't help compare to my miniscule collection which I find it difficult enough to find the time to enjoy. This lead on to the question of how much time do we all spend listening to music in the average week. For myself I would have to admit to an average of one or two albums per day. Of course, some...
AllMy partner and I are visiting New York for a few days from next Friday and I was wondering if anybody could suggest a couple of interesting, small live music venues. Don't want too much noise and grunge but nothing too (musically) safe either....
Before reading anything I might have to say on this, I strongly recommend you take a look at these two thread from Fredrik:Walcha Plays BachBach NOT on the pianoforteI did consider e-mailing Adam and asking him to unlock those threads but since I want...
