The new David Gray single (something about love or other) is bugging me as it sounds like a direct lift (tunewise) from Bruce Springsteen; he also affects a Bruce singing style also. Can anyone help with which track I am thinking of? Forum members...

Has anyone bought that album?I heard one song on Montreal's Jazz radio station and rushed to the music store to buy the CD.Technically it was in the Jazz section but it's very hard to classify. I think it's definitely worth a listen.

I picked up the parliament 10" single CD the other day. Though they must have sold their synthesysers to Mattel and Fisherprice they have some amazing grooves.Judging by the cover the stage performances must have been amazing. Does anyone know if...

Hi all - I've asked this on PF too, but I do realise all the really knowledgable people are on here. I've been doing the Q Prog special crossword and I have all the answers bar one. I've a pretty good idea what the answer is, as I have E_R_ (4...

Whilst I've been aware of RT since his days with Fairport it's taken me 30 odd years to get into his work, to accustom to his deadpanflat voice, to understand the intricacies of his guitar playing. This new album is quite superb and deserving far more...

What is it that makes some music "cool" & some not? I'm not talking about the extremes like the Crazy frog, or Boy/Girl bands etc, just good music that's never quite made it to the "cool list" (for want of a better term) somehow. Any theories on why you think that happens? Anyone else got any examples of music they genuinely like, but is somehow regarded by others as "uncool" to like? Not just looking for lists here, but also theories on why "X" is cool but "Y" isn't. To kick things off,...

Am I right in saying 1964 was the best year ever for Number 1 singles (a few stinkers but generally great. Esp 2nd half of the year) and 2001 was the worst (A couple of Shaggy cover versions being the best it had to offer)?Lets debate and try and come...

Just came home with a copy of Careless Love by Madeleine Peyroux, bought on spec. after a hard day's shopping (well, OK, a hard-ish hours shopping, but I hate shopping, so it seemed like a day...). Put it in the CD player, sat down, pressed play, and...

On the hunt is supposed to be a tribute to Free's "the hunter". The riff sounds more like "Woman" to me. Any Skynyrd fans out there care to comment? Whatever, I can't believe I've only just acquired this record today having been a fan for 20 odd...
