OK. this is one for White Stripes fans only, but I hope I am not the only one to find this something to look forward to The new album “Get behind me Satan” is not being released on vinyl at the same time as the CD. But Jack & Meg will be returning to the studio, after touring, to record the whole album live and in one take. The result of this will be released on vinyl only. Has an album ever been recorded like this before? John.

Apparently from Norway and popular in Germany?I'll admit I saw the CD in the jazz section with a pretty face in a quirky composition on the cover and it caught my eye

Seeing on bbc.co.uk that Coldplay will be braodcast 'live in concert' got me thinking about the BBC's 'sight and sound in concert' from the early 1970's (?). The concept was audio via that new fangled medium of stereo radio, images via the telly....

Since making them a subject of a question within the New Fangled Pop Quiz thingy discussion I have been listening to their "In Search of Plaice" recording almost every day - it is so seriously laid back space rock sort of whatever. Awesome...

I'm a big fan of Bernstein's mass (and, indeed, Bernstein in general) so I was interested to pick up Nagano's new recording, despite a poor (but, it turns out, accurate) review in Gramophone. It may seem like an odd criticism, but Nagano's Mass is more...

It finally arrived. The Decca cycle includes some early recordings of Mr Gulda, encompassing recordings ranging from 1950 (the Les Adieux) when Gulda was a mere twenty up through 1958. This cycle is therefore very much a young man’s take on the...

I bought this guy's eponymous debut album around 86 and the follow up 'Man with the blue.....guitar' in 89. Both are absolutely superb. Countryish ( Americana??) in the style of Ry Cooder and John Hiatt (Both of whom appear on the albums). I then...
