Hi everyone, I'm lost here...  I cannot understand why, just on few albums, my HDX will only play the first track of the album. Then I have to hit 'Next' to hear the second track and so an so. A trick to this is to play the album with the random option. But I don't understand why it won't play the full album, going itself from track to track automatically like it does on other albums. Even if I hit 'queue next'  it won't play the songs next to another.  What's missing on these...

Just bought some Clear Groove liquid to give my LP's a clean.  It seems to work OK as their are longer any pops, cracks  etc coming from the LP's.   However the liquid is quite pricey for what you get and it does look a lot like that...

Probably expected after the last tour but Neil Peart has announced his retirement in a recent press article.  His daughter followed that up with a tweet stating that as of today her dad was a retired drummer.  Always a chance that he will relent but its been a hell of a ride since I heard my first album back in my teens and I'm grateful for the forty years we had them and don't begrudge Neil his retirement in the slightest

The Stone Temple Pilots' music is a memorable part of my alternative/grunge radio listening from when I moved to Seattle over 20 years ago. Weiland struggled with addiction and was bipolar. I haven't followed his ventures beyond STP, but was saddened to see a gifted vocalist gone at such a young age.

I downloaded the 24/48 album from HDTracks yesterday. The running list looked so good that I couldn’t resist. And my god what a set! This is essential Rush porn for all fans. The good news is that although it’s loud it isn’t squashed to hell like the last effort. Very listenable (Mu-So only so far) and IMO not a recording where the sound quality will detract from the content. An all to rare occurrence for Rush. This augers well for the concert DVD/BD which will hopefully be here in the next...

For Fleetwood Mac fans, there was Tusk (remastered) on HD Tracks UK site for £18.50 for 20 tracks running 1hr 14mins in 96/24, and now there's Tusk Deluxe for £17 for 84 tracks running 5hrs 47mins, still in 96/24. And on top of this there's a 15% discount, bringing the price (in £ ) down to £14.45. I'm downloading as I write, so I can't comment on the content, but I don't care what you say, five and three quarter hours of Fleetwood Mac for fourteen smakeroos cannot be bad value !

Have you ever wondered how to demonstrate how superior vinyl really an be to CD or anything else? Have you hoped that one of the finest and reference live recordings would be released on vinyl and wondered how it would sound? Do you like to play "Keith don't go" from CD to demonstrate your NAIM gear and know what I am talking about? And to all the newbies: do you want to hear what PRAT really means? Then eat this! It ain't getting better. It is an earthquake, it brings meaning to this...

I have ended up with a collection of both vinyl and CD mainly due to my age. There was no CD or cassettes initially so I bought records. The Hifi kit got packed away with young kids in the house and I had a break from buying music entirely for a few years. When I moved to a bigger place and the kids were older I got the boxes out of the attic. I began to fill in the gaps in my record collection. I resisted buying CDs for years and probably only got my first CD player in the late (very late)...

Following a wonderful recommendation for me to listen to Miklos Perenyi playing the Cello Concerto in C by Haydn, youtube through this video up next and I was staggered by it. My favourite recording of them so far is by Pierre Fournier on DG. Fournier is the only one that has stood the test of time in my collection of recordings, and some great cellists’ recordings have come and gone with me over the years. All I can say is that I have found a set of performances of these Suites that bring...

Would anyone have a link to buying good vinyl records.  I prefer the sound to CD's.   I would prefer to buy from a UK shop.

All is the new one worthwhile in high res or are we all well served with the original recordings and live recordings which most of us own. So anybody has experience with the new recording ?

A couple to consider.
Stu22Posted: 23 November 2015Last Updated: 23 November 2015
Any difference in sound quality between a CD rip or the hi res download? On HD tracks the Flac sample rate doesn't look to be hi res .... Or is this my ignorance? Thoughts v welcome. Stu.

Bowie unveiled the title track from his new album (out Jan 6th) this evening - and it's absolutely bloody terrific - particularly the middle bit.   Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kszLwBaC4Sw
