I went to play a particular CD yesterday and found it didn't play. I then discovered some serious scratches on the silver side, so my little 2 year old boy has been here then. I used a soft cloth and Autosol metal polish which removed the scratches...

I've just discovered a fantastic song by Gayle Caldwell called 'Cycles', performed brilliantly by Rickie Lee Jones on her 'It's like this' album. I know that Frank Sinatra recorded it in 1968, but I can find no other songs by Caldwell. Was this really...

Bought ‘Zero 7 – When it falls’ (vinyl) this week. Great album, can’t stop playing it. I bought it at HMV, Oxford Street, where I found it under ‘Dance’, about the last place I’d look for it.Now that’s...

Imagine, imagine a storeeeeeeeee...In a field, not far away, lives a herd of cows. One of the cows is rather unusual. Blue Cow wonders. She wonders what things are like outside the field."I wonder what it would be like to see The Beatles?""Oh, she's...

So, your entire music collection is about to be destroyed. You can save one disc/album, and it will be the ONLY one that you can keep.In other words, you only have one CD/album to listen to for all time. What would it be?Simple in my case (as long as...

I'd seen Low mentioned several times on the forums, but had never heard any of their work until a couple of weeks ago on the Bob Harris show.Bob played a track that I really liked, which turned out to be Low's new single "california". I've been...

As soon as I saw that this would be issued, I knew I would get it. Unlike many other reissues in the Original Masters series, the BAT is an extremely well-known commodity, and they receive plenty of spin-time round these parts. I mean, I’m...

It had been a while since I last listened to this wonderful opera – something over a year, though I can’t remember precisely how long. What better way to get back into it than with a new version, I thought. But which one? To my loss,...

Hi, I've been a "Hi-Fi" enthusaist for over thirty-five years now. As someone who has always played an instrument (piano/keyboards as main instrument, plus bass and drums just for the heck of it to see what it's like) and currently playing in two...

The mix on the new album is horrendous. I could hardly hear the drums, its mixed way back and too low level. I know Bono has a great vox and Edge's guitar playing is unique, but can we please have a more balance mix. While the songs seem good, but the...

Here’s one I’ve been waiting for. Boulez’s piano sonatas are rarely recorded, so any new recording is welcome. For a while now, I’ve relied on Claude Helffer’s set on Naïve for all three, and of course I return to...

Pushing The Senses came out 31st Jan and no-one told me. I saw it on Amazon & so bagged it immediately. They haven't done a duff album yet, so I thought this might be it, but no. This album is seriously good, if not amongst the best. What a great band.

I have just discovered Keith Jarrett. The Koln Concert is fantastic and has hardly left the CDP. The man is certainly prolific, can anyone help with recommendations of which recordings to go for next? Thanks.

Just thought I would share this with you.For many years I was happy with LP12, 72, 140, no name CD player and HB2 speakers. About 7 years ago I decided that a proper CD player was in order and I ended up with a CD3.5. Not long afterwards a household...
