Sound of Vinyl are promoting 6 "classic" LPs that are half speed mastered at Abbey Road. The claim is that this gives a "new level of depth and clarity". Where does marketing speak end and the technology start that means this is a valid claim? Do they really master vinyl at Abbey Road, I thought it was a recording studio, and so they would either use tape or a digital recording medium. Wouldn't the tape then be used to master the LP at a production facility? What exactly is done at half...
