Just to let you know that my band, SLIPPER, is playing again at The Prom, Bristol on bank holiday Monday, Jan 3rd. The 5 piece jazzy, groovy band is getting quite a following and this should be a good gig.For more info it might be best to send me...

Just curious if anyone has heard "Celtic Crossroads" by John Whelan & Friends? I think There Were Roses is an absolutely gorgeous song that I typically have to listen to at least 2 or 3 times in a row every time I hear it. The rest of the album is fantastic as well. Anyone listen to Whelan or know what his other stuff sounds like? Anyway, if you haven't heard him, but are a fan of the genre you owe it to yourself to pick up this record. Cheers, Aric Mark Twain- Dance like no one is...

I must apologise I do not have the articulation of Mr Lees, and neither do I have the forum standing to perhaps be a 'leading' voice in this area. Electronica for me has been a life changing experience. Its what actually made me sit up and buy new...

Hi,I have the opportunity to pick up a co-workers classical album collection of approximately 1500 titles. I have a listing, which shows a range of years from 1960's-80's, with the bulk in the 1970's. Labels are a wide range, but the bulk are angel,...

After visiting London yesterday, I found yet more of my regular shopping haunts have closed down. There has been a spate of closures in the last few months: Rhythm Records & the dance shop downstairs from it in Camden. Tower Records in Picadilly Circus & the other ones elsewhere. Koobla and XSF in Berwick Street. Are people not buying music anymore? Is downloading to blame? Is the music scene awaiting a new kick up the arse again? (please don't offer me Keane or that flavour of the week from...

Or, Bartok’s Third Piano Concerto.I’ve made no secret of my special affinity for Bartok. It was his music that got me seriously interested in “classical” music in the first place, and I have not yet tired of hearing new...

Since I began listening to opera last September, I have had the pleaseure (and occasional displeasure) of listening to some of the most famous and popular operas, and I have also spent time listening to lesser known fare. So why not describe some of...

Most of us are familiar with comments from friends and family who aren't into Hi-Fi (and let's face it most aren't)along the lines of "What are all those black boxes for?". "Can't you hide the speakers in the wall?" "I wouldn't be able to hear the...

Or: The Accidental Collection.I love Chopin’s music. That’s not really a big confession, nor is it an unusual one. Name his big works, and I’m (almost) invariably a fan. The last two sonatas, the Polonaises, the Nocturnes, the...
