Just a quick note to urge you all to see Jimmy Cliff live on his current tour. I went to see him last night at the Leadmill and he was awesome. I cannot believe how young he looked. One of the few legends still out there so catch him while you can.
These turned out to be Bugge Wesseltofts I didn't have. All in all a good swap and a blessed relief to press the 32.5/110 back into 2 channel service.Alex
Picked up three of the Hed Kandi range, they can be best described as soulfull house i think, lots a good feel good tracks. I suppose i'd describe them more as chill-out music - shit i'm doing a really bad job of this review here (sorry). What can i...

So impressed was I with the three DG Originals boxes I bought earlier in the year that I thought it would be worthwhile to buy some of the Decca offerings. I have started slowly, buying only the Josef Krips box to start. But what a box! This should be...
I bought this on the strength of extremely compelling reviews from very creditable sources. I have listened to it 4 or 5 times now and I am afraid I just don't get it.Bleed a river deep = Submarine bells (the Chills). Most of the rest of the album...
has turned into Malcolm McLaren!! It looks like Nick Cave is also tuning into Neil Young!Jools however isn't turning into a particularly charismatic musician yet - he's good, but there's still no fire there.
Just recieved the Norah Jones album on hybrid SACD and very nice it is too.Thought it would have had a more higher profile release though.
I never had the priviledge of watching Queen live, at least not from the front. I was about twenty feet behind them at the Live Aid concert whe they did their turn - and that was brillianr, but far too short.I've got to say that I REALLY enjoy this...
Does anyone have any info on the upcoming Bowie tour.
Dear All I have read a little [I can only find a little] about Robert Simpson’s string quartets and wonder if anyone has any tips about where to start with his chamber music. The idea of modern counterpoint is appealing. I like Tippetts 3rd SQ, but not so much his 4th and 5th.
I have it on good authority that Zep have a good chance of reforming with Bonhams son as the drummer - Whats your views?
Murray Perahia has been on something of a tear the last few years, releasing all of those wonderful Bach discs and then last year’s dazzling recording of Chopin’s Etudes. So when I read that he recorded Schubert’s last three piano...
Did anyone else pick this up? I've finally gotten around to listening/reading this properly, as opposed to just listening to the accompanying EP. Very enjoyable. I am no great reader of graphic novels, so YYMV, but worked really well for me.The deal...

I would like to try one of CP's LP sets and would like to know where to start with a good balance of sonics/preformance. I have seen listed the Dial Set, Savoy Studio Set & Mosaic Set. Where is a good place to try and what is fair (e-bay) price for your recommendation. Thanks John

Tried this on the strength of a recomendation by my local shop. I quite like the style and her very natural voice but find the clomping backdrop a bit dull. I'd try another album by her if they have a rather lighter or more interesting instrumental...
I have just heard that Radio 2 are featuring the soon to be released Calexico single "Alone again or" a cover of the classic Love track.Although I love the original - this version stands up and captures that Baja California feel. Does anyone on the...
I've had a subscription to Q magazine for a while on the basis that the review section was pretty comprehensive, seemed fairly immune to hype and was generally useful for keeping me abreast of new releases. Although my reading of the rest of the...
Some of the albums that have had more than their fair "suck of the sav" in my house of late :Liza Ekdahl - "Back to earth" and "When did you leave heaven". Swedish. The Peter Nordahl Trio are fantastic.Silje Nergaard - "At first light" and "Port of...
under www.andymetzger.com find link to msn.comThe whole album to listen to at very low quality. It sounds fantastic.
With seemingly more music available than ever, it's difficult to funnel those choices down to potential purchases (for me anyway). I thought it might be fun and informative to share sources. So... where do you get ideas for new albums to buy, and...
Just thought I'd let anyone into Twisted Nerve bands (Badly Drawn Boy, Andy Votel, Alfie, Dave Tyack etc) know that they're currently selling all vinyl and CDs (pre-2003 only) half price from their website www.twistednerve.co.ukJonathan
