All-time favourite album has to be 'The Songs of Distant Earth' by Mike Oldfield. Not only is it an epic musical journey, but it tests most aspects of a system's capabilities. Check out the opening minute, it'll tell you a lot about your...

Anyone else heard the new album 'Lost In Space'?I've had it 2 weeks now. It is a bit more lush and 'produced' than Bachelor No 1 but of consistent quality. The lyrics are as sharp as ever. Only criticism I would have is that the pace is all rather...

I have a good friend in the record business who assures me that in many cases "remasters" are nothing of the sort, because the original tapes have been lost. Sometimes the source material for these releases are several generations down the line. The...

Looks like Naxos will be issuing a set of live performances led by Georg Tintner in repertoire other than Bruckner. Below is the list of works in the 10 disc tribute. I may have to investigate. (I'm not sure whether it's one big set or ten separate...

I was thrilled to learn a few weeks ago that Supraphon has begun a 42-title tribute to Karel Ancerl. Since picking up his set in the Great Conductors series as well his Brahms 1 and Dvorak 9, I have been more interested in the recordings of this...

The Late Junction crew have unleashed a series of CD's on the unsuspecting public. The music should be eclectic and marvellous like the Radio Show (it should even include a sprinkling of "suicide" music so beloved by Matthew Robinson, Tim Oldridge and...

Hi there, (especially to the chill-out fan like Darryl) If you like chill-out music, you haven't bought a lot of individual bands album, with the likes of Zero7, Fila Brazilia, Royksopp, Nitin Sawhney, St Germain & Groove Armada ...etc. It is a great compilation to get. Even though I buy a lots of chill-out albums, I still get this double CDs. It includes some classic jazz artists with a twist (remixes), i.e. Nina Simone, Randy Crawford & Courtney Pine. Come on guys & you won't regret it.
