Just listening to the superb 'The Newton Plum' by Bed. Shades of Talk Talk/Mark Hollis, Hector Zazou, Brian Eno. Quiet, reflective and a beautiful, natural recording. Only one downer - unexpected crappy falsetto on one track a la Lambchop. Why oh...

Don't have much time to post and I know most of you don't appreciate R&B, but this is a good album. This girl is talented, really. Just wondering if anyone else picked it up after all the praise it received. Those of you who want to criticize my taste of music, please keep your fingers off your keyboard.

I just picked up Maurizio Pollini's new Schumann disc yesterday. This time around he plays Kreisleriana, the Allegro Op 8, and the Gesange der Fruhe, Op 133. All are expertly played. I have definitely heard better versions of Kreisleriana, but Pollini...

I have recently come by a copy of Alanis Morisette's latest album under rug swept .Normally, I wouldn't touch this kind of stuff with a pole, but it is brilliant - especially the last track Utopia. She has an excellent voice, the acoustic guitar work...

Thankyou to Herm and Rainer. The Shostakovich Viola Sonata came today and made me late for work. Yes it is better than the other recording I have. There seems to be both more feeling [emotion] in the playing and more dynamic range. It also seems more Russian. Herm, I disagreed with you about this being depressing music. I still do, but I can now hear much more melancholy in it. Thanks again. Steve
