What an unusual piece this. When first I heard it, I did not know what to make of it. It was virtuosic and colorful, but it did not seem particularly interesting. Maybe the artist got it wrong, I thought. But the artist in question was Martha Argerich...

They Black Crowes have "ceased to be", they are "ex-Crowes"....Sad, they are my favourite 'normal' rock band.. I have seen them in the early years, through 'thick and thin' (excuse the song title pun) to the latter years. They were great live...

Man, has EMI gone nuts as of late. This month, five "References" titles were released in the States (though it looks like they are from last year for Europe), all of them worth buying. There are Gieseking's traversal of all of Ravel's solo piano...

From what I have seen, most Naimees and Linnies listen to 70's pre punk rock and "easy" jazz noodling. Of course, classical too.I wonder why ?Is it to do the the wealth / class of the people who buy the gear, the age profile, or the synergy of the...

I have noticed there's quite a bunch of members who are into Stravinsky. So why don&rsquot we compare what works we like best? Let's start right away with saying I'm not a big fan of the Sacre du Printemps . Too thumpy. It's too much a manifesto. You don't listen to the Sacre without thinking: at the same time Elgar was writing his Violin Cto with its windflower wistfulness, poor old bastard.
