Does anyone else get irritated by distorted vocals on certain CDs?  I've just got the new Royal Blood album and thought there was something wrong with my system as everything sounds distorted - vocals, drums, bass - the lot.   I even played...

You know. I am recently bought Hotter than July, 1980, Stevie Wonder from Qobuz. I like this cd, and bought it even though it was only 44khz, 16 bits. Cd quality. However the sound engineering has me actually looking...

I was indulging in this infamous album by Greg Allman and Cher the other day:   Allman and Woman , Two the Hard Way [1977]   It has been dubbed one of the worst record ever made. Well, it's not that bad (you still have Edith Massey running for the prize), but it sure is completely dull.   So I wondered: what if they did a second one now ? Their love affair is an ancient story, they're both old and hopefully they put that behind. How would that sound if they did it again ? How...

The recording quality of some current popular music is a bÊte noire of mine as some of you will be aware. I recently bought an EU copy (via Amazon UK) of 'Lost in the Dream by The War on Drugs, which I think is musically superb. The recording quality is however execrable - mp3 fodder. I have just received the same CD, manufactured in the US. The difference in sound quality is astonishing - the US version sounding so much better. Why? Both copies appear ostensibly, to be the same on the...

Has anyone got this and if so does it have a download voucher, or CD enclosed? I have been a bit frustrated with this release as my preferred two CD version sold out very quickly and seems to have been a limited edition. The vinyl is expensive if...

I have been mining the forum for albums to listen to and have discovered quite a few gems. Given that I (thoroughly) like: Tales of us - Goldfrap Aventine - Agnus Obel Pale green ghosts - John Grant God willin & the creek don't rise - Ray Lamontagne Immunity - John Hopkins Inform - educate - entertain - Public service broadcasting I was wondering what the community would suggest as addendums to these fine albums?

Radio Paradise have just played The Eagles - Journey of the Soucerer, an instrumental track.  It's the theme music used by the BBC for Hitchhikers.  Wow!  I didn't expect that.

BÖhm/VPO visited Japan 4 times starting in 1963 and his last was October 1980 concert of Beethoven 7th. Looking quite frail and the performance is a bit on a slow side compared to his early 70s recording but I get a kick out of his face when he hears a horn player completely makes a mess of it. ( check out 13:35 ) I sure hate to be that player. BÖhm was said to be a demanding task master. He passed away next year august 1981. Karl BÖhm- His Life, His Music.

Hello everyone, I've had the pleasure to discover the English band Hope & Social on Bandcamp a few months ago. Their last output is a cover album, made with a different guest on every track. It's a lot of fun, with covers of, among others, Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love , Tom Petty's I Won't Back Down , Feargal Sharkey's A Good Heart , The Stranglers' Golden Brown , and even a banjo/mandolin-backed Ghostbusters ! (Hilarious, but also very good.) As they seem to be...
