Music Room
Looks like it is Pink Floyd tonight on BBC4. Richard
I absolutely enjoy Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 (Titan). The CD-rip I listen to is conducted by Leonard Bernstein (Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam, 1999, Deutsche Grammophon). Could you recommend another version, preferably a high-res download ...
I recently played an album that I haven't heard for a long time. I've been upgrading for a while now so things have changed sonically on a huge scale. I love the way that Naim makes the music sound 'live' and 'in your room' which is why I've invested...

How about some examples of albums where the original recording is better than the original or vice versa?I expect most you will say all originals are better but I'm curious to explore this.one example is The La's self titled album. Original is better...
Greetings; fans of the inventor of the seed drill. For those of you who are not aware, I must alert you to Steven Wilson's newly released remaster of 'Benefit'. It is an absolute gem. The master tapes were baked (yes, really) to allow them to be...
Should be interesting for Neil fans: "Neil Young will release Live At The Cellar Door, the latest in his Archives Performance Series, on November 26th on Reprise Records. The album collects recordings made during Young's intimate six-show solo...
I thought I would start a thread where we can reveal a recent musical discovery and how we came to discover the artist. My recent revelation (most of you will say I've been living under a rock or something I'm sure) is an artist called Rodriguez....
I got hold of a copy of Bowie's David Live 1974 double album. Problem is side B has the same label as side A. APL2-0771, A2-E/B1-E. I have done some search but have not found anything at all about it. Does anyone have any clues?
Been listening to this tune a lot lately and curious what your favourite is. My fave by far is the Michelangli/Giulini/Vienna Phil DG vinyl but I'm sure I need to listen more. This is a bit of a Mozartian-Beethoven tune.
Has anyone heard any of these discs? http://www.mdt.co.uk/catalog/c...ewsletter-30-10-2013 CD comparaison here. http://media.mdt.co.uk/media/wysiwyg/Comparison.png Decca have issued all 14 hours of Wagner's Ring Cycle on one blu-ray, has anyone heard it?
Which do you most enjoy? Its Van for me, never really got into Bob Dylan. But being a native of Belfast was certainly the catalyst. Harry
Late afternoon yesterday, i was absolutely gobsmacked how good this LP sounds -- this is one that i bought when i was @ Uni in the 70's (!!!) however, the record was also showing its age, and some abuse during the student days, so i decided...
Listening to Crimson /Red. So good to hear the man back. The Devil Came a Calling is the only one making sense so far but think there's a couple of killers on here. Welcome back Patrick
Before the tape recorder and LP record the longest side that was generally possible for commercial release was about four minutes forty or fifty seconds long; this fact alone made recording in the 78 era rather taxing. But there were exceptions...
It has been reported that Lou Reed has died at the age of 71. Sad news, a great influencer and will be sadly missed. Thanks for the music and those times, Richard
Hello to all I have this urge to dip my toe into the world of classical music, knowing absolutely nothing about it I would welcome some input from The Forum. I would like some recommendations particularly based on violin and harpsichord...
WOW.!!!!. just heard a track called Lock n Load by the Dead Daisies on Planet rock... Slash on guitar. Why have I never heard this before !! Awesome.!!! A must for Slash, GnR fans. They are supporting Black Star Riders...

We all love a bit of music sometimes. Post you favourite guitar riffs and share. I still wasnt sure if he was gonna be ace or terrible, right up to the point where he hit the first note I offer you the gift of music:
Hi Classical music fans since getting my nd5xs I have started listening to classical music. I am a complete novice here and started with Linn downloads as I can listen to tracks before I purchase. I am really getting into classical and from what...
As the title states: Before spending my money on the Mofi release of this album, I'd like to know which version is considered as the "holy grail" of DSOTM if you are only going to buy 1 copy? Thanks! Regards,Michel
Just a so called "heads up" for those (like myself) who have been cursing the high price of the new Roy Harper double vinyl album "Man & Myth". Amazon's price has just dropped to a much more reasonable £16.70 (previously over £36). It's always a tough decision with Amazon knowing the best time to buy, but I have pulled the trigger - just in case it is just a temporary aberration.
Just looking on the Naim label site and noticed their sampler albums appear to be released on "odd years", with sampler 8 released in 2011.
Does this mean they might be releasing sampler 9 for the end of this year?
