Dear Friends, I find a ramble round http://www.testament.co.uk/ is usually some what depressing. So much I would love to get, and so on! Of special interest is a series of live Beethoven Symphony recordings from the Philharmonia [mainly in the Royal Festival Hall] including 1 to 5, and 7 and 8, issued for the first time. Often this album has been voted the best album of all time. Dark Side of the Moon is 40 today. How many times do you think you have listened to this great work?

Saw the great man at the Fareham Arts Centre last night.  Small intimate venue and a great performance.  Even SWMBO really enjoyed it, despite not previously being a fan.  He's playing in Andover tonight if anyone is tempted.

Got this CD today and the quality of its production is miles and miles better that the 20th Anniversary Edition I had previously.  I can now properly enjoy this classic Tull album once more.  And for that I owe a very big thank-you to J.N...

I was listening to ELP's "Triology" last night and it reminded my just how good this band were when at their peak. I'm sure there have been bands since that would interest me just as much but for a variety of reasons, I haven't found them. Anyone have...

Anyone remember the magnificently monickered Ariel Bender a.k.a. Luther Grosvenor of Mott the Hoople? There's a documentary about the 70's rockers on BBC4 Friday 8th...

Does music help you when you're down? Not in my case:I first have to resolve that situation then music helps me to come back to a proper nice feeling.

Today would have been George Harrison's 70th birthday.  Let's spare a happy thought for the most sensitive of the Beatles. He gave us some fantastic music.

I'm a big fan of the Reissue Vinyl Quality post (thanks Kuma!) http://forums.naimaudio.com/displayForumTopic/content/12266460307361467 I feel that high-res downloads should be seen as re-issues. Are we getting the extra bits we're paying...

Today I picked this album again from my collection of LPs:   I had rather unexpectedly found it among other more normal releases at my usual record store, in my home town, in 1985.It's got a 'proper' sleeve, with the Parlophone label. The...

Just to let you know, I was looking for a record shelf when I found this: http://rekordit.myshopify.com/ Cool idea, little bit expensive, especially when you add the shipment costs for beyond the Atlantic. But maybe I will build one by myself. The Fat Cat

All, I'm looking for a complete set of the Shostakovich quartets, to get me started. I've seen a number of postings on this forum of the Borodin's second recordings ('78-'82) and particularly for that one, I wonder how the performances have...

I didn't exactly realise he was still alive but either way I was sad to hear of his death. A much under-rated presence and you only have to hear someone like Lykke Li to hear how his influence has resonated down the years. Bizarre mix of stuff he...

Just heard that Tony Sheridan has died. He will be known by most of us for his time with The Beatles in Hamburg, pre-fab four. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/9876075/Tony-Sheridan.html If there's one period of music history I...
