During the time I've had some Flatcaps, most recently in combination with my 152xs and CD5x Indeed on the latter its making large improvement imo, even the cabinet seem quite empty inside Not so sure about it used with the preamp compared to my Hicap But my query is: whats the main difference these three FC inbetween ? and would I benefit getting the fc2 or fc2x only for my cd5x ? Or will there be no difference running cd5x on either of these flatcaps (thats my guess anyway) I have tried my...

Hi, my last upgrade was to a NAC 282 with NAPSC, which I power using a PSU. I am curious about whether trading up my NAP 200 is a good move. I only buy second hand, and once I start talking to my local dealers then I will get the normal push to buy. So, before I wake up that sleeping lion, can anybody explain how a move from 200 to 250 affects the sound. From what I have read so far, I get more bass control but some describe the 250 as a bit clinical, which is why I am nervous. It could be...

Soo... I have TQ Black 2 on home dem. My system is NacN 172XS, Nap 200, B&W pm1, Chord Shawline interconnect. My previous speaker cable upgrade was DNM Reson to Naca5. The DNM was perfect for my previous system, but in the current one, the Naca5 is much better. Back then, I also had TQ Black on home dem along the Naca5, and although I liked some of what the TQ was doing, the Naca5 was the better match for me. The TQ Black 2 I'm demoing only has a few hours on it, but imo it's much better...

I will try to give the pertinent facts here as succinctly as possible, and my hope is that is is a setting that can be tweeked but now I am concerned. I had a while ago purchased a crummy little Blu-Ray DVD player (Sony) just for DVD replay. Connected to the 272 via digital coax, and to my TV via HDMI. When watching a movie, after a time (10-20 minutes) a horrible static electrical crackling was coming out of my speakers. The static can be controlled by the volume control, and of course...

Hi! yesterday I was using the front panel buttons to access bluetooth on the atom and paused at the iradio input. A station started playing, at first at ”normal” volume, but after a few seconds suddenly at full volume! Not pleasant. The atom was not connected to the app on my phone as that was not on wi-fi. Anyone else had this issue? Speakers seem fine but I was worried for a while..

So, if you couple the announcement in the stickies about Audiobarn on 14th October with the Audiobarn website announcing a Kudos Titan session on the same date, then the dots join up as a SNAXO active 606 and/or 707 demo. If that's a correct joining of dots, its an exciting development. I look forward to reading some reviews :)

Can't tell 100% looking at the dimensions online - wondering if anyone can confirm this: Two medium fraim shelves stacked on a base level would line up with three standard sized fraim shelves. One Tall fraim shelf will line up with two standard sized fraim shelf. Thanks! I'm looking at reconfiguring brain sized of the fraim, hence the questions. Currently, the system looks pretty wierd due to too many spacers shelves. Looking at options...

I have a NAP 250.2. The amp make an audible noise inside (like a buzz) when it is running. The noise persists but does go away if I switch the machine off. I tried to disconnect everything, but the noise is always audible. Someone has talked to me about Ground Loop, but I have no experience on this topic. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone I’m going to be upgrading from a 150 to a 250 very soon, rest of system is 102/hicap/rp6/raspberry pi HifiBerry mojo/ royd minstrels. now I really love these speakers, music just sounds right on them, will they sound 250 times better with the 250 or are am i being silly keeping them and should look for something else? I like the look of the neat iota alphas but haven’t herd them yet! Thanks in advance

A while back I sold my Naim Unitilite and sent it via a courier, the Unitilite was “lost” in transit and after a lot of effort I managed to claim the value back. I was wondering if there was a place where the serial number could be recorded in case it turns up or so that someone could check before buying used Naim equipment? Nick

Hi, I should know this kind of stuff, but my excuse is that school was sone time ago. I moved from an unregulated NAP200 to a regulated NAP250.2. I am curious about the design differences. Can anybody point me towards an article, post or review that can satisfy my curiosity without inducing brain freeze? My rusty science says that it is all about maintaining a steady reference power supply, which the NAP200 does passively with capacitors and the 250.2 helps the capacitors with some active...

Looking to add a TT to my Supernait 2, so I can join in with the vinyl comeback gang, now iam not getting rid of my Naim xs Cd player, no chance, but i do want in on vinyl, how do I approach this?, of course I want a quality deck, mid price, mass loaded, because it's not going on a dedicated stand, more like a low unit, and a know you purists will cast me out, but iam trying add style with functionality here, I just don't like racks, no big deal is it?, but on a more serious note, I want a...

Hello, I'm a newbie here and don't yet own any naim kit, but I'm considering it. I'm currently downsizing from a denon based 5.1 system to a better 2.1 system; one of the options I'm looking at to be in the middle is the atom, but I'd want one with the HDMI port so it can work with ARC and CEC and make for a really simple TV and film watching experience. I went to have a listen of the atom at my local hifi shop (Doug Brady) and really enjoyed it, but as I know I want the HDMI connectivity, I...

I have a Supernait 2 with a Cambridge Audio 851N hooked in via unbalanced connections. All was fine until I added a HiCap2 DR and now I get some hum and digital noise from the 851N. If I disconnect the power lead of 851N the noise disappears. Why did the addition of the Hicap DR cause a ground loop issue?

I currently have a pair of SL2 (sitting on a concrete floor) and have been wondering whether additional isolation products such as Townshend's Seismic Podium would be of benefit. SL2s already have a form of built in isolation in the form of a leaf spring in the base. Have any SL2 owners gone down this route and can share their experience?

"So do you want tweeters with yer woofers mate? And how many watts do you want?" (cue rest of Not The Nine-Oclock News sketch) I'd post the URL, but go to the Currys website and search for Naim. Yup, the muso is in currys. I cant wait to engage with a "sales executive" youth and, through the clouds of his Lynx deoderant, have a discussion about the directionality of interconnect cables.

My active SL2 set up recently made a vast step forwards with the addition of a pair of DR250's. They are lovely. But, I want to reduce box numbers having a Naim DAC + XPS, Armageddon (LP12), elderly 82 pre + two hi caps, and a SNAXO, and a CD5S. (10 boxes and about a mile of cables). Yes, another Naim nut, with Naim polo shirts! First the SL2. Running active I cannot find anything I like as much, but passive they are only so so. So the SNAXO, Hi-cap and 250's remain for now. Perhaps later a...

My 282 is configured to use the rca sockets through the cd input. This is how I currently use it. I have now bought a new interconnect with a 5 pin DIN plug and want to do a side by side comparison with the old cable. If I understand the 282 manual correctly, when the 282 is programmed to use the rca inputs then the corresponding DIN socket is isolated. Therefore, swapping the cables through the same input (cd) will take a few minutes while I run through the programming mode etc. Are there...

It seems to be fashionable to have less boxes at the moment with 272/XPSDR/250DR becoming a firm favourite and so it got me thinking what other three box systems do people have and how do they stack up. When I say three boxes I mean three Naim boxes so for instance 252/SuperCap/250DR is a three box system ( 2 old style shoeboxes count as one) so if you have Nas drives, switches, linear psu's, phono stages or dacs tucked away as long as they are not Naim and are not on show or are discreetly...

Has anyone heard them yet? After they were mentioned in another recent thread I looked them up and read a great review by Andrew Everard in Gramophone further investigation on Q Acoustics own website details the whole design concept behind the speakers. I used to own Concept 20's in a dining room system with a little valve iPhone amplifier by Fatman and they were fantastic value IMO I very sadly had to yield on that little system now replaced by a little Bose speaker thing so that I could...
