Rega's new book about turntables for sale on their site looks to be an interesting read. Click the "Rega Live" option at the top of their home page. (I can't link here due to forum rules)
Hey everybody, After a very long wait, my Atom finally hit its shelves yesterday evening, and I'm really glad to find out it absolutely desserved waiting that long. 'Sounds dope through my B&W PM1 I'd like some advices though, even if this ain't my first Naim kit (the Atom replaces a full system comprised of a DAC V1, NAP 100 and a Qute2) as regarding one: 1. Installation : My hi-fi racks have 3 shelves, it's actually like a kind of longer than higher cupboard to accomodate for the...
Hello there. Im making various expensive mistakes so decided i could use some advice. I bought an atom and dali zensor 1s. I then decided they were light on bass so bought a matching dali e9f subwoofer. I didnt think the sub sounded very good so I asked naim support who said the preamp outs are not designed for subwoofers but can do the job to some extent. Does anyone know of a more 'made for purpose' way to get the subwoofer connected, preferably one which doesnt further cripple my finances...
Guys, You will know from my other thread where I initially contemplated trying some Chord Signature Reference speaker cable between my NAP 250DR and Kudos S20s following what I thought was encouraging experiments with Signature TA inter-connects. Well it hasn't turned out as expected but I've drawn a conclusion. As I said I was initially impressed by the Signature stuff including the Din-XLR, more forward and more resolution. But after a while I began to suspect that the sound was actually...
On my current turntable I use the original 3mm thick rubber mat for my normal vinyl, but for the 180gm stuff I use a 2mm rubber/cork mat. Both sound fine but the main idea is that because the heavier records are thicker, the thinner mat provides enough correction for VTA. I could actually adjust the arm too, but fortunately this works really well. I like the concept behind Rega’s Turntables and the simple design, but I’m not sure how they cope with varying record thicknesses. I understand...
UintiLite units are attractively priced now. Swapped one in for my UnitiQute2 in my office, into Vienna Haydns. BIGGER sound. Still, Analogue In from NDX/555/552DR is "hugely' better than stand-alone. Even Spotify through the NDX etc is WAY better into the Lite vs native on the Lite. Nice to have the options, of course; but the fact that they are meaningful is helpful, I hope. Great piece for the money, no matter how you use it, though. Both the Qute2 and Lite are better at being integrated...
A Are Naim telling fibs? Looks like a SuperUniti to me, not to mention a power supply and possibly a power amp or two? Aparently it sounds very good whatever it is. .sjb
Upon hook up the RCAs were working fine. I cant get the DIN sockets to work after following the instructions.Serial no 292xxxwith Narcom4. Nac 202 connected to 200 with no napsc. I am pressing program mode on remote with light indicator flashing on volume then pressing 2 for tuner and no sound.
I borrowed a Supra DC-trap from a good friend. I connected this Supra DC-trap to my old Naim units: NAC112 - NAP150 - FLATCAP XS - CD5 - EPOS M5 speakers. I have annoying issues with my NAP150 transformer giving me hum on and off for 16 years whether it's day or night time! It turned out to be DC current defiling my AC current hence the humming from my NAP150! When I borrowed a Supra DC-trap connecting it to my Naim stereo, my Naim turned quiet when I don't play music, no more DC defiling...
Good afternoon. I am using a Qute2 in my bedroom system through NACA5 into Linn Kans left over from my early system. I have the Kans right up against the wall etc. I have a redundant chrome bumper 140 and 62 and just wondering how I can utilise these (140 most likely) with the Qute2? The 62/140 can be serviced if need be.
Hello everyone !! I've just got a SN2 and it's perfect but I get a sensation of the music being kind of "faster" and this has to deal to the bass punch and articulation. I' ve heard my supernait2 with nordost speaker cables and they are very fast with beautiful punch and control....but still that sensation like you press 2x on the player!!!! .....is there anything to "fix" this to my preferences or it is just a NAIM characteristic no matter what cable? would it be different with naca5?? So...
Hallo I am new to this forum and very happy to become one of the Naim family. English is not my mother tongue so please forgive my spelling. I was wondering 2 things : 1. can I / do I need / should I , tow in the SL2's ? 2. how do I get a pair of the foam grills ? Thanks Dan
My mother in law wanted her attic clearing out at the weekend. A couple of boxes came down and these were inside. Thorens TD160 & Trio KA-4002 A complete surprise as no one knew what they were or where they were from. My father in law died over 10 years ago and he wasn't interested in hi-fi so no clues there. The units seem to be in decent condition, apart from 30 + years of dust collection from the loft and a grazed turntable lid. Anyway - what to do next. Are they worth spending time...
Dear community. One year ago I bought my first Naim (Nait 5si) and month latter Scm 11 speakers. Unfortunately I did't have a chance to listen to them in my home environment since this is not a dealer's policy, but I had extensive listening at his audio room. Speakers, connected to my amp, sounded great and very easy to listen even at very high volume. Well, situation in my room was quite shocking. The transparency and beautiful sound is still there, but it comes with an ear fatigue,...
Had an interesting afternoon at my dealers today. I requested a demo of the Nova to satisfy my curiosity before placing my order for 272/250. It was set up with a pair of Harbeth P3esr. The brand is new to my dealer and I have certainly never heard them before. They had been on demo from the morning and so were insitu. What a great combo this was. Fantastic mid range and very sweet treble. Surprising scale for the size and much more dynamic than I expected. Bass was plentiful but maybe a...
Hello friends, I recently got a Naim Nova after auditioning the little brother (Atom) paired with some Dynaudio M10 speakers. Great sound indeed. At the time of the audition I compared the Atom against the new Rega Brio and found the latter a bit rough / aggressive when the volume was turned up. The Atom was so much more refined to my ears. To cut a long story short, I initially ordered the Atom but was soon tempted to 'future proof' and changed the order to the Nova instead. Fast forward a...
Hi. I'm seriously thinking about coming back to Naim after a few years of playing with other options. Budget is £28k. Obviously this combo (used NAP500 non DR or NAP300DR) would be tough to demo in an A/B comparison. Does anyone have any direct experience of comparing these two? As NAC552 DR's are pretty much not available 2nd hand, I'd be buying new and would also buy a new 300DR or 2nd hand non-DR 500. Any thoughts ?
Are there any effective ways to move from my CD5 into the world of streaming while retaining my HC/72/140 combination which provides a sound that I love! Or am I going to have to move in a different direction. Thoughts and options available? Rest of system is: Flatcap/CD5, Headline/NAPSC, Rega Planar 3; NAT101/SNAPS. Aim would be to remove CD5 fro system, rip all CDs to whatever device I would stream through/from.
Have RP6,172 and NSats. Stepping up to the NAP 200 was a bit of a shock. Much wider bandwith, attack and detail. Had no idea the 172 would show off the differences that much but it is night and day especially with the RP6.
I realise it's all about trial and error but I'm interested in comments regarding this rack order (from top to bottom & left to right): RP10 TTPSU CDX2 Rega Aria NAC202 IsoTek Aquarius NAP200DR NAPSC
The volume control is stiff and does not respond to the remote half the time. If I pull outward on the volume control it loosens up and works. is this normal?
After 22 years my 52/Chris West works perfectly why am I obsessed with the addition of the 552/552ps What I've got for power are tri- amped 250s nbl's , LP12 ,cd2,nd.....what I'd like to know is .....will it blow me away ? Linn lp12 arkIva,troika ,Valhalla, cd2,nds
I have ordered a Unity Nova with Naca5 cables. I only need 2 meters on each side and my question is if you also on the Nova need to have at least 3.5 m length on the Naca5 speaker cable? /Oskar
