Hello! I have a SN2 that is sitting collecting dust because I can not eliminate an annoying buzz. I have read around and there is so much info here about buzz, hum etc. I would love to see if anyone who resolved my same issue is able to respond to help me narrow down a solution. The details are as follows: It's buzzing through the speakers. buzzing with only speakers and no sources and only the SN plugged in. The volume of the buzzing does not increase as I turn up the volume. It's not...

Just a concern for the future of sound quality. With a clear sonic difference as the mains changes throughout the day, you can clearly hear a difference when the washing machine is going in my house, what will 10 million electric cars charging do to the mains. I am sure we will have to have the hifi running on a separate solar powered circuit.

I always had this preconceived notion about Harbeth being kind of dated and boxy. I have been on the search for a replacement for my current Linn Majik 140’s. Driven by 250dr/272. I listened to two pairs today and I don’t know if it is the novelty of their house sound or they are really good but I found the Super HL5 and the domestic monitor 30.1 intoxicating. Anyone have any experience with them or have and advice or opinion of them Had been leaning toward Proac but really loved the vocals...

Hi Y'all, I often enjoy reading peoples upgrade dilemmas on this forum and feedback received. I now have around £1500-2000 spare and I'm pondering my next steps. Please help........... System: Source: CD5 (original) and FlatCap 2 Source: ND5xs Amp: NAC202 and NAP200 Speakers: Dynaudio Focus 140's (bookshelves with good stands) Other: Naim Frame light and usual cables (speaker cable is chord, but cant remember which) I think these are my options: 1) I still listen to a lot of CD's so perhaps...

How popular are subwoofers these days when used with a dedicated system for a music hi fi. It's something I'd like to try out for a while to see what areas of the sound it makes a difference. I'm thinking scale, harmonics, weight, soundstage, as well as bass extention. Are there any enthusiasts that have added a sub and won't be without one in their system, or those that tried and found them having an adverse effect on the sound. thanks.

So last night I sat down to some choons with my mate Alex who has come up for the weekend. (Ex of Beechwood audio in Braintree if anyone remembers back that far) No tweeters on the DBLs. Both dead. Get to back to snaxo362, and start moving the cables around. Appears that both 135s driving the tweeters are dead, despite all the lights being on. Moving speaker cables around and driving the tweeters from the midrange amps (with midrange signal) shows that the tweeters are still working. Note:...

I posted a thread few weeks ago on the voltage outputs of the Supercap DR to the NAC 282 and NAC 252. Thread here http://forums.naimaudio.com/to...ected-to-282-and-252 Since I did not receive any confirmatory response to the question that I asked, I presume my understanding below is correct:- The Supercap DR supplies 2 x (2 x 24V) supplied to NAC 282 The Supercap DR supplies 13 x 24V to the NAC 252 There appears to be a consensus that the Supercap DR is superior to 2x Hicap DR when connected...

I have been happily running my system for a couple of years now and it struck me that I have never used either of the remotes (they are still in the original packing...) So I got to wondering what percentage of people use their remote and what percentage do not. I also started wondering whether it would be worthwhile if I replace my Flatcap with a HiCap DR. The HiCap would need to power both the SN2 and CD5XS and yes, before I consider buying I would speak to my friendly Naim dealer and get...

Hi there, I'm considering getting a Fraim which I'd be putting it on an area that starts with a (disused) fireplace that is about 2cm higher than the floor it will end on. Does anyone know if the spikes on the bottom of it allow that sort of level of height adjustment so I can create a level surface from one end of the other. TIA

Hello, to everyone Some month ago, i changed my loudspeakers from Naim Ariva to Dali Epicon 6, that was a huge step forward. So my system at the moment is Naim Supernait, Naim Supercap2, Naim-DAC, Auralic Aries Femto as Streamer, Dali Epicon 6. Now i think its time to upgrade the Supernait, my target is Nac 282/Nap 250 DR and my Supercap. My first question is, makes it sense, because my Supercap is not DR at the moment? Because i cant afford to buy 282 and 250 together at the moment, what...

Unable to afford the 250dr I have opted for a recently serviced (at Naim July 17) NAP250 to replace my NAP100. The NAP250 dates back to 1985 and started life as a Chrome Bumper, back in 2008 it was converted to Olive with the newer Grey/Olive fascia, looks mint on the photos. Plus factor is that this 250 comes with the Holden Fisher transformer. Many years ago I had an Olive 250 and at the time with an 82/Hi-Cap, but change of house new room layout did not do this setup justice so sold the...

My 72 has a decal showing the various inputs and outputs on the rear panel with serial number on the bottom right corner on the decal. All other 72s that I have owned or seen have that information printed right on the metal casing with the serial no. in the upper right corner. The serial no is 56038 (1989 run). Has this 72 been converted?

Hi all, I opened a thread renecly asking a question regarding the Kudos 707. They are placed in my home for about a month and they're now in the middle of their break-in period. Yesterday I added my secound 555PS DR to the NDS (which I didn't like with the SL2/ProAc) and now it's one of the biggest improvement a naim's folk can have IMHO. I followed Darke Bear's advices regarding this: 1. Analogue PS at the bottom; 2. SuperLumina IC is located free of touch with a loop in order to not touch...

Hi all, I have tested many micro USB cables including expensive ones. Ones from Australia and the likes. Never thought much of any of them. Always preferring 15cm stock Hugo cable with my Hugo2. I ordered a Vertere D-Fi (Single) from a shop in London for trial. Superb cable. Finally something that beats the stock USB. Tighter/punchier bass/sound, clearer vocals and more cohesive. No dynamics squashed or restricted. Very musical and open. Less compressed sounding. Just flows more and feels...

Over the last few weeks I have noticed a real step up in performance in my system. Without going g into too much detail the bottom line is that everything is better. High frequencies are less harsh and I am actually struggling to get bass boom on the usually difficult tracks even at high volume. I think this may be down to three reasons. I thought I would post in the hope that it may help others to fine tune their systems. Firstly I moved speakers further apart so the drivers are now 7 feet...

I am in the process of replacing the UK plug on my Graham's Hydra with a fuseless "Viborg" Europlug. Is this safe, or should I just make do with an adaptor?

Hello, Apologies if I placed this topic somewhere wrong, but this is my first post, so bear with me. Just recently I acquired a NAIM set, I was wondering what it is and does. It consists of: NAIM NAC 52 (serial: 66***) NAIM NAC 52 SP (serial: 66***) NAIM NAP 250 (serial: 66***) NAIM IBL speakers (2x) Also, there is a Lenco L75 pickup with it. Can anyone give me some advice on how to assemble this set? My goal is to play some record every now and then, for instance on a rainy sunday. I've...

I have an opportunity to pick up a 52/250. I was the original owner of the 250 and the current owner has had it recapped. The 52/super has never been recapped. Know for certain the supercap will need service, but would like learned opinion of how neccessary it may be to service the 52. Better I know, but needed?
