Hi Guys, I just got a S/H Tellurium Black Diamond interconnect DIN-DIN from my dealer to be compared with my Hi-Line DIN-DIN. At the moment I am not impressed by the TQ Black Diamond. It is a S/H cable but the Shop Seller told me that it is like new since it has few hours and it needs to be run more and more. Do you know how muuch time it need to be at its highest quality level? It seems to much smooth, the Hi-Line was very live and crisp but the TQ seems lifeless and the texture on the low...
I am in the fortunate position to have my audio equipment far away and to the side of my speakers, 6m NACA5 cables et al. Great indeed. However, this weekend coming I am decorating and the cables behind my Naim are unsightly (I keep the two 'columns' as far apart as cables allow (minimising EM distortion). Now Naim advise the Burdy and digital cable being run close and parallel... So should I therefore tidy up all my cables with cable ties? (I know people say 'try it and see', but one can't...
As above gents. I am wondering if it is possible to have a small bedroom system via a nice Nait 1 that I have, but utilising the UQ2 downstairs to feed it. Would all I need be a Bluetooth receiver plugged into one of the Nait outputs? My UnitiServe is upstairs plugged into the router, so it's possible I could connect the Nait to it also, if there is such a device available to facilitate this of course. Suggestions welcome! Thanks as always
i note the latest update from Trevor advising that the atoms are now being shipped and will be in the dealers next week. my question is whether this includes the hdmi versions, as I have had one on back order since last year and wonder if this is also being shipped, or if this version is a later release?
Hello, I live far from any naim retailor so I would like first to check the capacitors on an old nap 110 which is working but capacitors may need to be changed. Problem is, after removing the 4 feet screws , the inside cannot still be removed from the case. There are 2 central hexagonal screws on the bottom of the case which I cannot unfasten with an allen key Any help welcome to tell me how to open the amp please? regards Richard
Hi, I've nearly finished a fairly major Naim upgrade,. Now have a freshly serviced CDS1, Nac 72 yet to be serviced. 2xNap140 again yet to be serviced. A Snaxo, serviced by Naim last year a Hicap and a Flatcap yet to be serviced, on my Snaxo. My question is do I get everything else serviced, swap my Flatcap for a Hicap, or what I would like to do, swap my Credos for a pair of SBLs? Any thoughts?e
Hi peeps Which output is best for CD on the above amp? At the minute I'm using No2. I lost the hand book yeats ago so might be barking up the wrong tree? Many thanks Clive
i have mounted my nSats using naim wall brackets. but i have 2 questions, only for those who actually know from experience of owning a pair and doing this type of installation: (a) how high should the speakers be from the floor -- i have mounted mine to be approx. same height as Linn Kans on Kan stands? (b) did you bother to screw in the bottom two holes (through the studs) to the wall? many thanks enjoy ken
Sorry for asking a basic question, but could you leave a nap 140 on permanently? This is paired to a 72 but no hi cap. Many thanks Clive
Good evening, Brand new Shawline RCA to Din is humming like a bird. A quick continuity check shows: left RCA central pin is connected to Din Ch1 right RCA central pin connected to Din Ch2 outer collars of both RCA not connected to any Din pin or Din collar. outer collars of both RCAs show continuity with each other. Is it safe to assume the hum is due to the -ve not being connected in the Din or am I missing something? simon.
Hi all, My kit is as follows: 282, SC2, PSC2, 200, NDX, Hugo, Fraim, and Credos. I currently have my kit in the dining room and my main speakers in the lounge, connected with NACA5 under the floor between rooms. I have just purchased some preloved SBLs which should be here in a week or so, these will replace my Credos in the lounge, and am planning to move my Credos to the dining room, I see that the SC2 has output for 1,2 or 3 amps, could I connect a second amp to the SC2 and power my...
I just spent a few days demoing these speakers at home with a 252/250DR and thought my observations might be of use to anyone curious about them. I have no affiliations. I take pictures of things. The report is thanks to a recommendation from Mr. Halibut (thank you HH) who suggested I check out the 60's in my quest for the right speaker for me - my backstory being a tedious 2-year quest to solve issues of glare and harshness. The foregoing observations are all the product of this set-up, my...
Interested to hear any viewpoints from members who have sampled an A+B test to compare S20's & D7's? Looking to pair one of these with the new Nova.
Hi, My system currently has the SL from nds to 552dr and SL speaker cables. I'm thinking of making it a full loom by swapping out the din- xlr to SL between the 552 and the 500dr. I've been reading some reviews in the forum and it seems the results are mixed. Should I go for the full loom? What are the improvements to expect with the SL din-xlr over the standard interconnects? Thanks. LY
Is there a technical writeup from Naim on how the Hicap Dr and Supercap DR are powering the NAC 282. I am interested to know the technicalities. If such document is available, I would appreciate if any member can point me to the link.
Hi all, Here are some bits of Naim and forum advice one might question. I tried them all as I have a fairly big listening room (7m x 8m rectangle): 1) Biwiring - don't do it. 2) Have your NACA5 cable 6m. 3) Stack your system in two columns. 4) Place your system not between speakers but far AWAY to the side. Well I've had the fortune of testing these all myself and fully agree - I've never had a system sounding better. I know listeners become more 'tuned in' after modifying - simply trying to...
Ladies and Gents Advise needed please; Main system: Atom, NAP200DR, Chord Shawline, Chord Ethernet etc. I need speakers 2K Budget. 2nd AtomNAP100 Chord Shawline, Chord Ethernet etc - I need speakers 1000-1500 budget. Average size rooms. Thanks in advance.
Hi all, This question must be asked as it's an ultra cheap upgrade and I've seen it in many demonstration systems. Having recently realised the benefit of using 2x 6m of cable and my system far from speakers, I've learned that is the optimal method. So why do demonstration systems still do this as presumably the promoters already have optimised cable length. 6m is enough distance for fibration issues. But that's my hypothesis I welcome being challenged. Merci!
Trevor, will we have another weekly update on progress in testing and launch timing of the Uniti series, shortly?
Okay, so I started another thread a couple months back asking for (and getting, thank you) advice on getting a Nova vs a 272+300. In the end I flew to England, auditioned lots of options and decided to go the 272+300 route. But there's all this talk of the new Uniti series incorporating the latest streaming and power supply thinking, and I kept feeling the Nova would lead to a 372 and that's what I really wanted. So I picked up a used Classé Sigma SSP Mk II for quite a bit less than list and...
Has anyone tried naim gear with active atc speakers , thinking more at atc 40 thanks aceone.
I recently bought the Metrum Adagio which is a great sounding NOS DAC. Perfectly in sink with my 552DR/500DR. This Metrum Adagio has -as it turned out- a very nice feature, a 10db attenuation of its output signal lowering the level from 2V to 0,73 V. The performance of the Adagio stays the same on both output levels. Never thought that this could change the performance of the 552 but it just drives it to a complete higher level. The difference is stunning, much more details, space and room.
Question is getting a 552 made 2012 worth a fifteen thousand dollar price tag over my late 90's 52 I've had all upgrades done at AV options , using NBL's with three 250s plus naim power cords .
For example the Supercap 2, the 552 power supply? This would imply passive biamping, something advised against (by Naim). It also may be for subwoofer output, but again very few use a subwoofer in stereo mode (if one's speakers are good enough there is no need, plus all the frequencies come from the same speaker). So I ask you, why have additional outputs if it theoretically degrades performance?
FYI: 5 months ago I opened this topic: http://forums.naimaudio.com/topic/upgrade-to-naim-xs-from-rega-brio-r I´ve been doubing and spending many hours listening both amplifiers. One problem was with the source cable ( I mistaked with the model was the Atlas Integra non Hyper ), when i changed for an even cheaper Qed Performance the change to better was obvious. Nowadays I only confirm what one post told me, the sound of rega is a little boiring and lazy when compares to the naim and I have...
