Good evening, it's been several years since I've posted - I hope someone can help. I have a CDSII/XPS, 52/SC and 135s driving Credos, and have recently acquired a mid-80's LP12 with Ittok LVII and K9 MM cartridge, which has a bent cantilever (known to me at the time of purchase). My NAC 52 came with a pair of 523k phono boards, which I'd never installed until now, but I believe from searching the web that they're intended for low output MC cartridges. Nevertheless I installed them just to...

I know there are a few art loudspeaker fans on here so thought this may be of interest - Flicking through my latest HFN this morning i came across a bit of a nondescript advert with a large pair of white speakers which use a large Volt bass driver (with front facing basket) - I'm assuming it's a 15" unit. It looks like it has an 8in Mid bass and the usual SEAS tweeter the small badge at the base looked like the art logo. They appear to be the new Phantom speaker. Anyway they look very nice...

The big day came for me yesterday .... the mighty 272 has departed and after a couple of hours rebuilding and fighting with burndies .... my system awoke (only after allot of head scratching .... the NDS had been set to phono. .doh!). Well.... bit of shock .... (bare in mind the NDS and 552dr are pre owned) the sound from cold appears very detailed and clinical ...... voices sound really good and cymbals shimmer nicely ... some depth apparant. I have just let the system play away now on...

Hi I've recently been on a lovely trip to the UK, collected a pair of S600's and drove back home to europe's mainland. I notice a much bigger difference between good and bad recordings. It gets really easy to notice flaws in either the recording or in the performance. On the other hand, good recordings sound absolutely fabulous. I love to listen to innervoices in baroque counterpoint and this is so much easier. When recordings were equal in quality to my ears before, one can be annoying now...

Dear members, Just like Jarl his unitiqute in 2016, my Unitiqute 1 display died about two weeks ago. Now, besides the fact that I paid EUR 1900 for this product 5 years ago, I find it particularly strange that a company as Naim would jeopardize its reputation by giving such technology (oled) a chance in their products. They study every wire that goes into their products but not the displays? The retailer told me that it would cost approx. EUR 350 to replace the display! Just so that the...

Now that the new NAP 300DR is installed and singing oh SO sweetly the question is what to do with the NAP 200 (non DR) that it replaced. In my upstairs study/guest bedroom I have a Uniti 2 (no BT) playing into DeVore 3XL speakers, and it sounds quite well. But I notice the Uniti has a preamp out 4-pin DIN, and here I am with a NAP 200 with a 4-pin DIN in... The question is would the improvement in sound quality using the 200 instead of the built-in Uniti amp be worth the cost of not selling...

Both the SuperNait and the Stageline have a signal ground wire connection on the back to connect a turntable tonearm ground wire lead. My Stageline N is powered by an I-Supply and all my Naim gear including the AT LP5 turntable is connected to a Musicline Netzleiste. The tonearm ground wire can be connected as follows: 1. From TT to Stageline N? 2. From TT to SuperNait? 3. From TT to Stageline N and a seperate lead from Stageline to SuperNait? If the TT tonearm ground wire is not connected...

Hello, I've just installed my new Rega RP 10 and a Naim Superline powered by a Hicap. The cartrige is a Koetsu Black. The preamp is a NAC 272, so there is no possibility to power the Superline without a separate PS. Now I hear a hum - I think at about 50 Hz - over the loudspeakers - especially over the left channel. The reason for the hum may be a wrong grounding. Because there is no separate grounding cable from the rega, the grounding port of the Superline is not used. I tried to avoid the...

Hi my system has been connected up and on for nearly 2 weeks .... I have checked all components temp and all are luke warm appart from NDS... This is pretty hot .... probably about just under 40deg... I can keep my hand on it ..... to me this is really surprising... is this normal? my previous 272 ran much cooler.... I would be really grateful for other forum members to check theirs...... try putting your hand on top of the casework ...midway towards back.....

Here's a flaw that Naim needs to address with a firmware. Making tracks equal in volume when one makes a compilation. Surely that's an easy firmware?

i'm enjoying my new 'used' naim muso. a question: do you think that Naim will be upgrading the muso with another unit version or something else to replace it? sure it's not a high end 2.1 system (but then again i'm not a hardcore audiophile who wishes to go down a potentially $$$ wormhole either).for those of us who aren't hard core audiophile purists, but still like good quality music it still has value (notwithstanding a good 2.1 can beat it of similar pricing, perhaps) it still has a...

Just a thought. I'm fortunate enough to have a dedicated listening room that is geared just for my hifi. No TV, no phone - just my system and the record collection. The other half has recently taken to joining me and reading and listening casually whilst I listen properly. She has commented the room is very warm and asked why I don't fit a ceiling fan. I looked at her in shocked disbelief and spluttered something about the noise it would introduce into the system. But thinking about it,...

Hi Folks I am awaiting the delivery of a 122x and nap200. This will replace my Cyrus amp/ power amp combo which I never liked. They powered my Tannoy XT8F speakers (not sure about them either). Source is my Cyrus CD8X cd player which sounded good when I tried it in my main Audiolab system 8000C/P, CDM/DAX & PMC FB1+'s. I'm hoping the Naim equipment will be at least as good as the Audiolab equipment. I'm going to sell the Cyrus gear and buy the best power supply that I can get with the...

As the HDX saves CD rips into the folder Music\MQ why is there a folder Music\HQ as the highest fidelity music the HDX rips is 44.1 16 bit CDs? High resolution downloads go in Download folder and MP3s go in Music\ LQ, so why the Music\HQ? Thanks

Hi All, My current system comprises of a SN2, HI Cap, Rega RP8, Aria,Ania, Chord Hugo 2, Guru junior. I'm really happy with my system in terms of Vinyl replay and love my Hugo 2, but can't quite put my finger on it not happy with the streaming side of things and faff. I use both streaming & vinyl replay equally even tho I possess more music on my hard drive. There several reasons that have prompted me here, a) miss the convienence that I had with my UQ2, one remote or app control to...

Have fitted a Grado RED cart to my AR Turntable/Alphason Opal Arm combo.. The sound is lovely ' but I seem to need to crank the volume on my NAC82 up to around 12 o clock on the pre amp to hit the sweet spot with most recordings some being louder than others. The cart is rated at 4mv .. Is this just a bad match as there are more powerful MM carts out there..?? The Decks VTA ETC is set up ' no issues just lowish sound... The NAP180 and hi cap have been recently serviced ... Any Advice would...

Hi Folks I'm connecting a new-to-me NAP300. I've got the red/green signal cables connected at the 300 end but can't see which sockets to connect them to at the Supercap end. The sockets are 1-5 but which do I use? Thanks

Help! I am rather confused - have found a used NDS at a trusted dealer but doesn't come with the pair of burndys it should have to link to my (non-DR) 555 - it does have an s-xps. Am p/exing my ND5XS which has s-xps, so keeping my s-xps would save money. But do I really need to get the two burndys? Am I wasting the NDS with an s-xps? Am a bit confused Sorry if the questions are stoopid!

Seeking some quick feedback from Fraim Users please. In the process of doing a quick 'clap test' to check out my room acoustics I noticed that my system, mounted on Fraim glass on cups and balls placed on the shelves of a Hutter rack, quite literally rings quite loudly for a couple of seconds each time I clap. Is this normal ? I will likely play around with it to see if removing the glass makes a difference, but before I pull the system about I'd love to know if others experience the same...
