Has anyone tried these? If yes, what did you think? There are not outrageously expensive, so I was thinking about getting a set for my 400s. Speaking of 400s, can someone please tell me the spike thread size? I looked at the manual, and did a forum search, but no luck. The GAIAs include M8, M6 and ΒΌ-20 threads. ATB. Hook

Hi, I'm looking into ways of transferring some of my vinyl collection into digital so I can load it onto a personal player and also maybe to archive, though this is a secondary consideration. I recently discovered a shoe-box sized Denon CD Recorder in the loft I'd forgotten I had. It's a very basic unit with record levels and very little else. Virtually a cassette deck but recording onto CD rather than tape. It's from around 2002 ish so i guess there are far better options around now. I've...

Has anyone heard this? My former dealer, now far away, was enthusiastic enough that I took the plunge without an audition. It should show up in a couple of weeks.

I hear the term used here often that some level of gear gets one closer to the sound of live music. I don't play a musical instrument or often enough hear music played live that I have a real ear for how a given instrument is 'supposed' to sound. Even if I did, an instrument's sound will vary per manufacturer and venue, etc. Most of my listening is studio recorded rock - amplified music often with intentional distortion and production qualities. While I can appreciate the timbre of...

I've been listening to new loudspeaker options recently. Mainly to check that my Shahinian's are fully revealing the wonders of my new NDS/552DR/500DR system. Many interesting auditions, but the reason for this thread is to say how impressed I was by the most recent audition. Naturally, I was hoping to have my own system in the chain, but not so many retailers always have it available and 272/250DR was the best available at this last one on Monday this week. Initial fears that 272/250...

Hi although new here l have had Naim gear on and off since the early 90's. Well my problem is the NAPC2 upgrade,is it?. + Yes there's more separation, yes theres tighter bass and more control of the whole spectrum but minus's are-vibrate real bass and its warmth reduced , too disciplined and inevitably lost its musicality and is more clinical --im selling it- the 202/200 sound brilliant without it. the same happened to my Naim DAC when l added the PS555, destroyed any musicality. ANY opinions??

Sorry this is so basic a question, but do I need anything other than a moving magnet phono stage to connect a new Rega RP1 to my Nac 102 / Nap 180 set up? Any suggestions for an affordable phonograph stage?

Has anyone had any success, and is it even a good idea, placing their speakers either side of the TV across a room corner? I ask as my room, although reasonable in size (26ft x 14ft), is somewhat limited in placement and I was considering an experiment. If I explain, there are only two realistic options of placement in my room. The first is either side of a mid positioned fireplace along the long room wall similar to HH's original system pic... This has the advantage that the speakers are...

Has anyone heard a 272 based system in active configuration? I have a 272, XPS DR and 250DR into SL2s so if I was to go down this route the simplest option (on paper) would be to add another 250DR, a Snaxo 242 and Hicap DR. However I'm not sure if the 272 would be a capable enough source in that set up and, if not, it would then mean also adding something like a 282 with PS and NDX / NDS which then makes the whole thing ridiculously expensive! So I'd be Interested to hear any experiences of...

I have a problem where the sound out of the left speaker is almost non-existent - when I swing the balance hard to the left it sounds like the 'shadow' of the right speaker channel...but it's only when I am using the DAC as the source. Amps: Olive series 102 to 180 Speakers: SBLs DAC: Beresford Caiman MkII (about 6 months old) with Chromecast input Testing to try and identify the issue and assumptions as below: 1 - DAC onto each input on the 102, same issue on all inputs - conclusion: it's...

I have a 272/250DR and am thinking about adding a power supply upgrade to the 272. Would appreciate hearing thoughts on whether the XPS DR is worth the extra cost over an XP5 SX. Thks

Hello all, I have a Sony MDS JB930 minidisc player which I bought new more or less when they were first introduced. At that time I had an Arcam Alpha 5 amp, Philips CD 634 CD player and some Mission 760i speakers. I was wondering earlier why minidisc never really took off, I have around 60 or so albums on minidisc recorded from CDs which friends have lent me over the years. I also presumed at the time, that minidisc would be the natural replacement for tape decks. I still use my player with...

I have a Uniqute 2, Nap100 and a nap200 I am experimenting with using Sonus Faber Concertinos in a study. I was wondering if these cables might be worth looking at ? I intend to use a small Olsen extension (hard wired) and plug both into one extension, rather than one form the wall and one from an extension.

Hello My actual configuration is nat 5si -> dali opticon 6 and I use the cable "supra rondo 4x2.5" I want to upgrde the cables but I need to decide between following cables , 1- AudioQuest FLX/SLiP 14/4 2- AudioQuest Star Quad Type 4 3- NAiM nac5 Does anyone has any experience to compare these three cables because I read a lot of good review about AudioQuest more specially about FLX/SLiP 14/4 and if Star Quad Type 4 has more benefit compared to FLX/Slip and nac5 compared to two both...

I've moved my Superuniti from a glass shelf by the side of my speakers to a sideboard between the speakers and had to use a cheap socket extension lead to plug the standard power lead into, I was concerned about using the extension lead as I've heard many a discussion on the importance of a decent power supply. I've had a good listen and the sound has definitely improved, more detail, deeper bass and greater depth. I'm gobsmacked as I thought the sound may have gotten worse as I have...

Having just DRrd my 250 and enjoying the investment I am considering the same for the Supercap. I will of course try to audition but just curious about peoples thoughts . Does anyone regard it as a lesser investment than DRing the 250 or even regret it. Perhaps the outlay would give a better return elsewhere in the system. Apologies to Daren for wandering off topic on his thread. Regards Mike

My combi (SN2 + NDX) is connected by minijack and the snaic. (NDX -> SN2-CD) Also system automation in "ON" so i can control the volume with the naim app. But when ik change from iRadio to UpNp or Spotify, the source knob on de SN2 (CD) will change to aux1. How can i change my source in the naim app without changing the channel on my SN2 ? (it must stay on the "CD" so i have all the sources from the NDX)

hi Naim friends is there any difference in functionality or sound quality for a Naim device that would have been DR'd later by Naim vs an originally DR'd piece? thanks!

Looking at the pictures of the statement launch at CES, there were no Superlumina cables ready for production at that time, seems that Statement Pre-amp and power amp are connected with what seems like Vertere Pulse XLR to XLR cables and Vertere speaker cables (even if they don't sound like SuperLumina cables now, I did the test, they sound quite different.... probably due to the connectors, etc..) I then looked at the Statement manual, and yes there it seems to say Statement power amp uses...

Total newb question, I was passed down a nait 5i and a flatcap2x. I have a preamp connected to the 5i, and I know the flatcap doesn't power the 5i. But can I power my turntable using the 2x if I had the din to rca connector directly, or do I need a nac 82 or the like connected to the 2x?

Hi if one has space to play with, what's the best positioning of the system: Between the speakers (higher vibrations yet short signal path) Far from speakers like +5m (far fewer vibrations yet long distance for signal) Some of us have that luxury, but I was wondering what you'd class as optimal. Cheers

I have a pair of IBL in piano black - does anyone know the history of these? Was this a 'normal' option?
