Hi-Fi Corner
I have been going through some of my older mothballed Hi-Fi wondering whether to get rid of it to progress to a streamer I decided to get it going and after a bit of fiddling was successful The set up being A&R A60 amp, Philips CD610 with Denon SC-M50 speakers with bell wire speaker cable The sound is very pleasing, warm and friendly but detailed enough, plenty of bass and volume Has Hi-Fi really come on that much? My Naim /ProAc gear has more PRaT but at significant cost Maybe I will...
Finally placed an order yesterday for a new NAP 300DR to replace the 200 powering my Davone Grande loudspeakers. Looking ahead at the instruction manual and connection guide PDFs online at Naim I see clear instructions for connecting the 282 + HiCapDR to a 250DR, but nothing about how to accomplish the same thing with a 300DR. It's clear from photos that the 300DR has two separate inputs, one for each channel, unlike my existing 200 (or the 250DR). So, how will I get my new amp connected?
Hi, Anyone know if there will be a replacement to the above level entry combo i was thinking of going for the above to find they have been discontinued. Many thanks.
Hi, I need to extend my 500 signal xlr cable conneting the amp to the NAC 552PS. Extending the cable by 50cm to 1.5 meter would work ok. Has anyone tried this? Any suggestion on cable quality? Could Naim supply the extended lenght cables? lots of questins :-) Thanks for your replies salvo
Hi, looking for a 2 outlet powerstrip alternativ to my furutech tp-60e, where I only use the 2 outlets ( 272/555 and 300). Any one have tried out the hifi-intouch wooden power strip ???
I have just purchased a NAIT XS 2 with a Marantz CD6006 and ProAc Response D2 Speakers. Although from a budget point of view I could not purchase a new Naim CD player at this point in time, I have seen some used CD players, CD3.5, CD5i and CDX. Any opinions regarding swapping out the Marantz for one of the used CD players? This is my first time using Naim and the dealer informed me that the NAIT and the Speakers will need playing time to burn in. I am impressed with the music right out of...
Hello, I want to try to connect an hifi sub woofer to my uniti 1 with neat acoustics Motive-One loudspeakers. Now I wonder if and where the subwoofer out of the uniti does cut off the frequency for the woofer and the speakers? And how the sub woofer should be set up? As I understand the manual, the setting "small speakers with sub woofer" cuts off the speakers at 100Hz. Is the sub woofer cut off there, too (certainly just into the other direction)? Or has the sub woofer to be configured...
Has anyone compared a 282/HCDR/250DR to a 282/HCDR biamped with 2 units of 250DR. Is there an appreciable difference in sound quality between the two? Please don't suggest other alternatives as I am only interested in this comparison. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. ps. I now run 282/HCDR biamped with 250DR and 200 and the system sounds better than a single 250DR. Better clarity, headroom, separation and detail.
I know the answer ( listen for yourself ) but I think it would be more hassle for me trying to get a dealer set up a system for me to audition, plus I am intending buying pre used! I am wondering if the move would be justifiable musically in the short term as a dr upgrade wouldn't be feasible until the end of the year my bits are 272 250dr SBL MK2 NAc a5 NS01 steve
I connect my Sony MP3 player NW-A20S via Bluetooth to the Muso. It plays just fine but I'm sure I used to be able to alter the volume on the Muso using the Sonys volume control, but alas this doesn't happen now. If I press '-' the sound disappears and if I press '+' the sound comes back to whatever level is set on the Muso volume control. Does anyone have any ideas for a fix. I've switched both units off and on but the volume can't be altered from the Sony player. I've tried the Sony with my...
..or thereabouts. A friend and I entered the Signals 'church' for the first time today, and thrashed some speakers. Thanks to the wonderful chaps at Signals for putting up with the incredible (but highly musical) din we were making for 5 hours. Using laptop and Qobuz sublime, we hooked up to an SN2, a Chord 2 Qute, and first off some Russell K 100s. These were possibly a little overwhelmed by the room size. They were highly revealing, and easy to listen to, but I didn't find them...
Have received emails from Naim about new Power-Line Lite and was considering purchasing two Interested to get opinions whether worth it or indeed whether to go for full-fat Power-line which could possibly buy ex-demo ? - quite pricey !
I know I spent well beyond but do most with higherend Naim gear have higherend loudspeakers or they blew it all on there electronics and get by with cheap average speakers
Hi, I have a problem with my DAC V-1 which I purchased in March 2015. I have already had it repaired under warranty by Naim after it had developed a different fault ! Then I was without it for 6 weeks. Now the unit keeps going into "mute" mode all the time when I am trying to listen to something. I have tried disconnecting the power to it , then re-booting it, but it still has the fault on all the inputs. As you can imagine I am NOT happy as it cast me £1,300 new. I have contacted Naim...
In February I posted about which way to take my plunge into Naim Amplification based on retaining my 1999 Rega Planar 3, with a new cartridge and a desire have a streaming solution. (thanks for all your contributions on the last thread.) In March I demoed a current Planar3/Elys2 with 272/200 vs (ND5XS)/NaitXS2 with a Rega Fono. At the time I thought, great the 272/200 really lifts the Planar 3 substantially over the XS2 and the streaming while better, isn't in a different league...
Anyone had experience of this cable got one last week as an interim on my travels to a full Sarum loom just curious on the burn in time detail / musicality is definitely up although it's quite a bit on the bright side, silver has a habit of that just want to resist the temptation of tweaking those little Snaxo pots again especially if the cable is likely to calm down lyndon

If my stageline is powered by my flatcap xs, should I be connecting the 4 to 5 pin signal lead to my 202 pre-amp in from the corresponding signal out of the flatcap or from the stage line (they both work)? Same question to a CD5 xs powered by same flatcap xs (Though I only have a 5 pin to 5 pin signal lead for this hence that is currently connected cd5 xs signal out to 202 preamp in). BR's AJC
I just caught the end of 'The Travel Show' strand on the BBC News channel. It featured (toward the end) a piece about listening to a £500k vinyl system at Spiritland, Kings Cross (they inevitably have a web-site), and shared group listening to classic albums on vinyl. It appears that the same TS segment is repeated at 01:30 tonight. John.
Over the last couple of years ive seen loads of these being sold S/H, whether that's from shops, a well known auction site or other sites. Hopefully next year one of those will end up here. My question is, are there loads of statements leaving Salisbury ? I know one chap who appears here sold his and was looking at some high end Danish amps, my dealings with him concerned a DR s/cap Just curious as to what all these people are moving to after having a 552 lyndon
Hi guys, I'm building a cable for my DAC and Nait 1. It will be a DIN-XLR. Can anyone share some experience of how to connect internal wires? Hot, Cold, Earth etc. Thanks a lot.
My 500 is off at naim being tweaked, and my old 135's slotted into the system for the last few weeks. I was luke warm to the prospect of the 135's, especially as these were recapped over 10 years ago. But boy oh boy, these amps really are fun to listen to! Maybe not the last word in finesse & transparency, but lots of listening and smiling this last few weeks. I'm now dreading that the 500 turns up and that fun factor goes away... surely surely surely it will blow the socks of these old...
On May 11th N.A. Distributors celebrated 30 years of representing Naim in New Zealand, and since 2012, Australia. Chris, Debbie and the team have done a fantastic job spreading Naim's passion for great sound down under and today we came together in Salisbury to celebrate their outstanding support and contribution to Naim over the last 30 years. From everyone at here, thank you!
HiFi Day Out Thanks to Paul at HiFi Lounge (BIggleswade), I finally had my chance to get a view on the “552 conundrum,” which is, “Is a £20k Pre-Amp just plain stupid?” For me it would be a £13k+ upgrade if I traded in my 252/SC in part exchange. I selected a list of tunes lasting about an hour. Some tunes were the usual suspects (Kevin Eubanks, Phil Beer, Keith Jarrett, Joni) and some new (Jason Isbell, Stuart McCallam). I try to get a mix of female vocal, male vocal, complex jazz, simple...
Has anyone tried using the Supernait 2 as a preamp? I am thinking about getting a NAP 300DR , and ultimately adding a 252 preamp. In the meantime my options would be to use the DACv1 as the pre directly or can I use the DACv1 as the DAC into the SN2 as a pre feeding the 300DR? I really like the sound of the SN2 and understand it has a v good quality preamp in it and no doubt better than the Dac v1 so would this be possible and has anyone tried it?
