I'm looking to properly site my various Naim boxes and Quadraspire looks like my kind of budget. Is it OK?
The picture of the NAC 282 and NAC 252 on the Naim website shows a recess around the lights of the volume and balance knobs. However, my NAC 282 does not show this recess as the lights are flush with the knobs. I would like to inquire if this recess is in existence on the 282 (or 252). The photo taken on Naim's website:- A close up image of the knobs which show the recess:- Only the NAC 202 does not show this recess whereas the NAC 282, 252 and 552 show the recess (on Naim's website).
Hi, I'm considering adding an old NAP250 olive onto my Uniti2. Has anyone done this, and if so does it add much to the SQ? They're both 70W's, so what type of a difference could I expect to get, if any. Also does anyone have any views on whether the pre amp side of the Uniti2 is good enough to warrant a 250? I'd like to get a bit more out of my current speakers but don't have the room for lots and lots of boxes. I primarily play off my NAS as well as Spotify. Don't use the CD much, but it's...
Dear all, Pretty hard to find some experiences from people who used or are still using this combination. I noticed my ATC's (SCM19) pull quite a bit of juice out the power section of my bare SN2 when played a little louder. I know the ATC's can be played VERY loud without basically very low distortion. Up to 300 Watts I believe. Although it's only 10 Watts more, I believe it must be a significant more powerful amplifier than the SN2 section. I was thinking of buying a second hand NAP300 in...
THe standard spikes on my speakers, Audiovector SR3AA, is small and difficult to adjust, so I consider to upgrade them to outrigger types. DO anyone of you havie experinces in doing this, regards to soundquality ???
Just seen this on Naim's Facebook page from 3 hours ago, referring to the original NAIT amplifiers: "This spirit is alive and well today in our new range of integrated amplifiers, which use new technologies to enhance the fundamental qualities of pace, rhythm and timing pioneered by their predecessors." Then there's a link which takes you to the SuperNAIT2 and NAIT XS 2 Any idea what this is about?
first off can these be discussed here ? specifically the cable between a 52PS and a snaxo supercap as this is the only means of travel for the sound from the preamp to the crossover forum rules seem pretty vague i.e. It tells us a company has asked not to be mentioned here but the details of that company are missing lyndon
Currently own a NAC 272 with XPS DR and Harbeth Super HL5 Plus speakers. Was using a NAP 250 DR but found the music was presented too 'nice'. A little too warm and laid back. I want a little more transparency and dynamic interest. Has anyone on this forum tried going into a Croft 7R power amplifier that is much recommended by Harbeth users? Thanks guys.
Suppose a guy has circa 500 LPs, ranging from battered mono ones from his childhood in the early 60s, to very new ones, left from a departed friend. That they also range from A to Z classical (I said classical , no Frank Zappa), including such things as the complete collection of RCA Victor Fritz Reiner discography (more than 60 LPs, in widely diverging conditions, bought starting in 1975), all of Charles Ives' works in various editions or multiple recordings of George Gershwin's major or...
Is it possible to run , temporarily, a stageline through an old arcam integrated amp. It's for a spare room set up?
Hi everyone, I've bought a Unitilite last summer and I am very happy with the product. However, since some weeks, when I try to open the CD drawer, I sometimes have an error "door blocked" ("porte bloquée" in reality as I'm French). Retrying sometimes solve the problem. It happens maybe 20% of the time but seems to happen more and more often as time goes by. I wonder if this problem is well known among the Naim community and if there are some tricks to avoid it. Thanks for your help, Gregoire
I am getting more and more excited for the coming high end in Munich. I will definitely go there on Sunday and might even consider to go there on Saturday, as one day is often to short. Things I am going to have a serious look at are: - the new Astell & Kern players the Kann and the Ultimate - the focal headphones - make a 2nd comparison between my Shure 846 and KSE1500 earphones .....and much more. Anybody who wants me to have a special look at something, please let me know I am happy...
Having sold my Naim system (CD3.5, NAC72, NAP180, NAT03, FRAIM and Dynaudio speakers) a few years ago when we started a family i figured now was probably an opportune time to feel my way back in to quality music reproduction when, hopefully, inquisitive minds can be persuaded to not do any damage...... I have managed to source a used unitiqute2 and purchased a new pair of ATC SCM11 speakers, both of which are due to arrive this week and, whilst I know that this setup might be slightly...
I've been using Quadraspire SVT for nearly two years now, replacing the Hutter I had previously. It doesn't seem that widely used, which I find quite surprising. It's really well made, itsn't too expensive, needs no adjustment once set up, and seems to allow the system to work really well. It's easy to clean too, and looks nice and neat in the corner of the room. It's the bamboo version, which is supposed to sound better, and has the solid bronze spike upgrade, in order to max it out. The...
That is the question. So, keeping it all "olive", should it be: 1 x Hicap or 2 x Hicap or 1 x Supercap Discuss!
Hi, does anybody know if it's possible to convert a Snaxo 2-4 to a 242,and would it worth doing? Cheers.
I've been contemplating an amplification upgrade. I now happily own a Nait XS with Flatcap2x. Especially since acquiring a CDS3 I've been thinking about upgrading to get the most out of the CDS3. I have been thinking about a Supernait 2 which gets some great reviews here and there, but also some critical remarks about harshness and being too much in your face. So now I was reading up on older Olive amps and would also like to try a NAC52/Supercap combo, they're pretty cheap compared to newer...

Hi, Really enjoying my 272/250 driving Kudos Super 20s (after being fed by Uniti Core)..... However, late in the evening it would be helpful to use headphones to avoid upsetting the neighbours... Can I ask if anyone has headphone recommendations to offer.. And, yes, we have thought about moving... Thanks in advance Craig
I have finally taken the plunge and traded in my Nap 200 for a non DR Nap 250-2 (2014) what improvements can I look forward to?
Anyone know what these currently retail for?
Following on from previous threads - 3 improvements and bass, how much..... I have since home demoed pmc 20/23 which I very much likes but again found the bass on some music to over power the room. I was hoping transmission line might make a difference. I now have neat motive sx2 which are ticking the boxes, much better treble than the originals which I own. Bass is also more defined and only occasionally boomy. I aim to try pmc 25/22 next but am also trying to arrange a home demo of atc. My...
I will finally get round to a dedicated spur in July. However, I wonder if I should get a second spur for the Unitiserve which is the opposite end of the room from the hi-fi? The Core seems to benefit from a better power supply so would the Unitiserve (and perhaps eventually a Core) benefit from a separate "clean" mains supply? I could go further and put the Readynas Duo (used for hi res downloads) and the switch on the second spur. Keith
I was a big surprised to learn that ATC will soon offer on-wall loudspeakers, based on their 'classic' series (I am no sure if that's what they're called) but you know, the SCM11/19/40. The new on-walls will be the HTS7, HTS11 and HTS40. https://www.whathifi.com/news/...lassic-floorstanders So, maybe someone who actually knows about speaker design, could explain what are the major 'compromises' of on-wall speakers? Of course, the major advantage is space utilisation/concealment, but as every...
On the back of the XS range becoming rather minimal, has it been confirm if they will be removed or replaced?.. Maybe the new Uniti products are so good they out gunned the XS range with new tech and usability? Will this mark the end of the sledge and sleeve design we're all aware of as being synonymous with naim?
