Hi-Fi Corner
Anyone tried these yet? Word on the street is these are a bit special.
Hi guys , new to the forum and most importantly pretty new to the world of hi end hi fi A few years back I bought a pair of B&W 683 s2's and (due to a slim wallet) opted for a Rotel RA12 Integrated amp This has been enjoyable but alas I want to move up in the world and have convinced the other half that spending £10k to "listen to music" is a good idea (yes I managed to conquer the wife....praise the gods) So here it is . I'm not insanely rich. I have around about £10,000 to play with...
anybody got pmc 25 23 speaker what depth are they it says 330mm but mine are 256mm depth for some reason
Hi, Anyone know the input and output impedances of the IXO? Thanks in advance.
I was lucky enough to attend Fink the other night at the Camden Jazz Café and have to say it was excellent. Best sound I have heard at a concert, with a simple set up drum, double bass and 2 guitars. But on returning home and playing my system, I am truly astonished how good and accurate to a live event my active s800 Naim system sounded. All these years and I am finally hearing a live event in my living room. I believe only Naim can do this.
Hello, I will be upgrading my speakers this summer and I'm hesitating between ATC SCM or Focal Aria. What would the right versions in these two models be to associate with the set-up that I have? I currently have a NAC272+NAP250 DR. For ATC SCM would it be 40 in passiv? what about Focal Aria? And while I know speakers are like ice cream, what is your personal preference? I will definitely have a listen before buying for sure! thank you.
Following this evening's transmission of the episode of 'Dr Who', it will be available on iPlayer in binaural sound. Just a ordinary pair of headphones is all one needs to experience it. John.
As a 2004 model still on original laser I can't complain but recently it has become distinctly noisy and started to skip towards the end of discs. So yesterday it made the trip to Leicester for the onward trip to Salisbury. On returning I'm looking forward to another 13 years. Streaming - pah!!
Any suggestions for a non English speaking Friend?
I have shortlisted ProAc K6 or Harbeth Monitor 40.2 to team up with my NAP250DR and NAC-N272 (to replace Quad 2905ESLs). Unfortunately down here in New Zealand I can't audition them. I listen to a wide range of music but do tend to get stuck in the late 60's/ early 70's. Also have a soft spot for more contemporary R&B and HipHop. Also listen to classical and Jazz .... Any comments, pros/cons of either speaker?

Just bought pmc twenty5 24 sound amazing but do demo them at home if you can as mine are a bit big for my room size,so has any body got the twenty5 23 as I will be bringing the 24 back.my from size is 15feet by 10 feet.
Playing more music than ever or at least for years and thats a good sign to me. Upgrade itch is more like a cable fine tune I feel right now. Are there any obvious candidates to audition, that can make my fine and balanced system sound even more sophisticated? Tellurium (have to buy blind), Mogami available, Chord available. I read about the diy Mogami interconnect, I do have the soldering skills, but I prefer buying finished examples. I have owned Chord Epic Twin three times, good as they...
Hi all, I'm feeling upgrade fever is approaching. Am currently using a 52 with 52 PS, both serviced and upgraded (Pots 8 etc) in 2012. I'm considering a Supercap DR to replace the 52 PS. Has anyone gone down this path and if so, what did you think? thanks John
I've spend the best part of ten months on and off measuring and fine tuning my listening room acoustic response. I thought it might be useful to share my experiences with forum members. It all started when my new SCM40A speakers arrived. They sounded wonderful but I had the impression they perhaps had a little too much bass for my modest room (4.3m x 4m). I thought, not to worry, I can always re-position them or treat the room so I decided to accept and keep the speakers. Unfortunately, as...
I see that these five boxes have been discontinued. In many ways the 152 and 155 are not really needed with the integrated amps in the lineup. But losing the 172 seems surprising. And without the XP5 the ND5 has no natural power supply upgrade partner. And losing the 05xs means that Naim no longer make a stand along tuner. I guess with more and more stations being on internet radio it makes sense, especially given the potential demise of FM for national channels in the U.K. But it now means...
....or is the combination really this bad? Bit of back story, I've had the Proac D18s for about a year, driven by SN2 and DAC-V1. The speakers represent my only auction site punt, so I'd not auditioned them, but they showed much promise, and were performing well overall. However, I have always found them tad bright, and a little edgy on vocals in particular. Note there I said a tad too bright. I added 4m runs of NACA5 this weekend to replace my 20 year old QED biwire, hoping it would beef-up...
Hi Alan I have a spare set of Sarum speaker cables (3.6m), if you'd like to try them. I tried a set of SLs - I'd waited eagerly for years for Naim to produce them - but ended up preferring the Sarums. Cheers Dave
I have been looking for an upgrade from my Linn Kans (Mark 1) for some time now. I am using them on the mark 2 stands and they are correctly set up, with NAC A5 speaker cables. I have used them for 30 years and have got very used to their sound. The acoustics in my room (3 m x 7 m) are quite difficult and the Kans sound a bit shouty. I have listened to the following speakers and makes, but have not liked them for various reasons: SBL, Spendor D7, Kudos X2, Proac, Monitor Audio Silver,...
Good evening Excuse my English I turn to NBL holders I noticed that where the midrange resides, the wooden suspension extends 4mm from the floor of the cabinet. Is it normal or is the weight of the midrange pushing it upwards? You are aware of someone who can restore it, perhaps in Italy (max Bertola)
So I'm back to enjoying my Nait 2 (thanks to all who replied to my previous post) when it occurred to me that I have a small Denon passive subwoofer lying around collecting dust. So I was wondering if I could connect it to see if it adds a bit of bass kick. I found some posts saying that I can piggyback the sub to the Nait's main speaker outs but I still have a few questions: 1) Is it really that simple - just piggyback the sub cable to the existing speaker connections? Can I just connect...
I am basically using my Qute for its pre-amp section. I have external amps (not Naim) and external DAC (not Naim) it seems silly to leave the Qute doing this long term. Should I look for a Older NAC (like a 112 and Flatcap? Is the Qute doing much for me at this point? Maybe Since my other gear is from another manufacturer it makes sense to look at a different Pre-amp. I don't say this to go against naim, but does it make sense to just have a Naim PreAmp in the system? I just can't afford the...
Dear Forum members I'm shortly moving to a new home, and the room where my hi-fi will be is quite a bit smaller than where I currently live. When I'm settled, I'll consider if there's a need for any changes to the system, but in the meantime I was considering buying a pair of good quality headphones. I'm thinking about the Sennheiser HD800s, but have a couple of questions, which are: My system is a Thorens TD190-HD, ND5XS, CD5XS and SN2. Are these sources/amp 'good' enough for these...
Just browsing, as you do, and I came across references to Stillpoint loudspeaker isolation feet (Ultra 5). These apparently cost approx. £500 each, making a total of £4,000 to isolate a pair of floorstanders? Is this correct, or have I misread or seriously misinterpreted price lists? Does anyone have experience of these particular products, can they possibly be worth such an asking price? Just interested, as I've recently installed a set of Herbie's Gliders which cost £180 and have totally...
