Hello all. I bought my CD5x new in around 2005. It has worked flawlessly until last night, when it stopped playback mid-disc (it was all fine up to that point) and then refused to recognise or play anything at all. Each time I tried, it whirred and clicked a bit (although barely audible) and then forlornly flashed "Err" at me. (Yes, I have tried multiple different discs and tried turning the player off and on. Sorry if this has been endlessly debated but I'm new on here! Like many I have now downloaded all my CDs to the PC where they sit in i-Tunes. I therefore no longer have a need for my Naim CDX player which still has a street value on eBay. Hi Folks, My Nait 5i arrived early last week and I've been listening ever since. I had also received the NACA5 speaker cables (12ft pair) so I've been using them as well. The genuine Naim DIN to DIN interconnect is supposed to arrive tomorrow or Thursday, so I'm using a Chord Cobra 1 DIN to RCA. My cd player is a Naim CD3.5 and speakers are Vandersteen 2C's. Just upgraded to a SN2, from a Nait 5si, and it seems i am on the upgrade path, how ever, I've been down this road before with Naim kit, and i am determined to keep things simple this time round, so my next up grade is a cd, my present cd is a 5si, and can't live the SN, so my short list is somewhat small, being there is only 2 players to consider, the 5xs, and x2, your ideas are welcome, a TT will be added some time later, your ideas on this will also be welcome. here we go... again.

I have a number of LPs where the hole is too small. Because my ancient RD40 has a concave platter I have to use the screw down clamp, which firmly wedges the record onto the spindle. Removing it lifts the whole suspended body of the turntable, which gets bounced about as I wiggle the record to free it. The record also gets bent in the process! I'm not enjoying that. I've been using my NAC 202 with a NAP 155XS for some time now and love it, I've become very familiar with the crisp, punchy yet smooth sound it delivers. I've recently got hold of a NAP 150 recapped in 2013 and thought I would try it out as a comparison. I expected not to hear a great deal of difference but after letting in run for a couple of days, find the bass to be somewhat overpowering. Well, finally been able to source some 135's after a long time searching. I have them all connected nicely, all I would like to know is can you use the newer style Nap 250 connecting snaics instead, as the plastic socket part on the ends of the older cables are rather long and tend to foul the rear of the Fraim even when fully seated. Hi I am currently running NDX/Dac/Xps2 LP12(Ekos2/Cirkus)/52+SC/Snaxo+SC/2x250. I'm aiming towards changing the amps to 4x135s, to which extent i've just purchased 2x135s. I haven't heard a passive setup with 2x135s, at length, so am going to get my chance. However, it'll be a little while before I add the other two 135s, so I was wondering: can I use the active setup with the 2 135s and either the two 250s in single channel or one of the 250s using both channels? Or should I go passive with...

I am about to rearrange my system, and it would be much more satisfactory to have the speaker cable runs 2.5m rather than the current 5m lengths. It would obviously save trying to coil a lot of A5 cable behind the racks. Is there really a problem with this, I have read various threads re: inductance, capacitance................... which I do not profess to understand. Would it really affect the sound quality, be detrimental to the amps..... ? Any advice welcome !

I was looking for advice on what Fraim height is best if I run a single stack of 4 boxes? I seen standard height but since I will be a 4 box stack does anyone suggest doing the medium for my setup? any pics would help thanks

Just doing a few tests digitising some LPs and have so far managed to do 24/96 copy to SD card of LP side Loaded into 'Audacity' chopped a track off tried to save it :- "Save as type" gave options : 1. WAV (Microsoft) signed 16-bit PCM 2. WAV (Microsoft) 32-bit float PCM + FLAC and a few others There is no option for 24/96 ? I do not understand what 32 bit float is ? Do not wish to proceed until I have some idea of best way to save files. Thanks

Hi there, I've been on the search for a good 5 pin din to 4 rca interconnect cable, so that I can connect my headphone amplifier to my NAC92 preamp. The options are limited, and hard to find. For the most part you could buy a 5 din to 4 rca cable for £5 on eBay, but I think it would heavily limit the sound quality of my system if I went for those. I read on Steve Hoffman's forum about placing y splitter cables between turntable and phono stage; anyone tried this? Picked up my CD5 and Hi-Cap following a service by Naim and was surprised to find that they were returned in brand new boxes. A pleasant surprise but my dealer was not able to explain why... is this a new service I wonder?

Yes you read correctly. Not for quality, but convenience! I can hardly place an LP in my iPhone can i? I want to do this as well as i can within my budget, better than CD quality of course. Has anyone experience of using ProAc Signature Black Speaker Cables with their speakers? Upgraded my newer 282 to an 11 year old 252 about 2 months ago. I decided to get the 252 serviced. 27 new capacitors fitted according to the invoice. Just plugged it back in so everything is cold. I normally leave everything on 24/7 so the power amp and power supplies have been off for nearly three weeks. It's sounding great so there should be more to look forward to once the all the boxes get warmed up and the new components in the 252 settle down. Happy bunny today.

Hi all, I have just took delivery of second a555PS DR for CD555. Of course with single supply now, i have both Burndies connected ( 2 bands cable to output 2 and single bands Burndy to output 1. I don't remember which of two is the one serving the analogue section, probably the most important in hierarchy and the digital one.
