I'm planning to 'go active'. My current system is: - CD5 (Flatcap 2) - Rega RP6 / Audiomods Series 5 / Ortofon 2M Black / Graham Slee Reflex M - NAC202 (HICAP DR, NAPSC) - NAP 200 - SBL Mark 1 (recent tweeters) I've bought a second hand NAXO with power supply so I think all I need is duplicate runs for speaker cables and another NAP200. I'll be buying second hand and would probably look to buy one of the same vintage as the one I have (give or take). My existing NAP200 was serviced a couple...

last week had to shut down system due to flash remote problem and had to disassemble system in order to check out failed logo light on one of my 135 amps. I reconnected system and all was well. However over past week I thought maybe system wasn't quite sounding as good as I had remembered. Discovered that the 5 pin snaic connecting 52 to supercap was connected wrong way with band on snaic at 52. So I shut down system and reconnected snaic with band at supercap. Since doing this my system is...

I'm a satisfied owner of a SN2 + HCDR and a CDX2 + XPS2 driving a pair of Vienna Acoustic Beethoven Baby Grand SE. The XPS2 is now about 10 years old and, as somebody told me, it probabily doesn't require an immediate recapping, yet (and from my side I could easily check its full operation disconnecting it from CDX2) . On the contrary the DR upgrade would be recomended and truly apreciated. Now, I know from my own experience that every time I upgraded external PSUs in my Naim system I really...

As many of you already know, we will be moving to our new premises at the beginning of May 2017. Our latest piece of signals staff news is significant. Our new HQ is a former Roman Catholic Church in Trimley, Suffolk. It was named after the patron saint of music, St Cecilia, and is being only slightly re-titled ‘St Cecilia’s House’ to maintain this pertinent connection. The process of obtaining change of use from a public building was not entirely straightforward for us, although we were...

Hi guys! Its me again... Can you help me out a bit? Let's start with a little inventory, relevant to todays' quest: -Denon DP300F Turntable with built in pre-amp -Ortofon 2M Red MM Cartridge + needle -Naim UnitiQute V1 -Quad ESL57's & somewhere in the attic should be dads' Thorens TD145 without element. Might need some TLC, maybe new belt is enough? I'm quite happy with how things are, when listening to anything but vinyl. Of course, there are always things to improve, but first things...

2nd question my system currently sits at cds3/xps/282/supercap/250 I'm throwing through signature cable to audio physics tempo 3 se .. I feel the speakers are the weak point so looking for something with good bass clarity without losing midrange .. eventually I'll move to 252 ... also they have to be something current as I would want to demo
Mr UnderhillPosted: 29 March 2017Last Updated: 01 April 2017
Thanks to Simon, Mike, Jason & Derek. This is the best demo I have attended over the years. The system was working well within the space that Infidelity had set up and allowed Jason and Derek to demonstrate effectively. The two sources were and NDS/555 and a Tangerined LP12. The amps: 552, 500; and, Statement pre/power. All into Focal Sopra 2. Jason started with a piece from the Naim catalogue while we acclimatised to the system. This was then followed by a number of familiar pieces,...

I notice the forum topic 'Display problems' is closed, but it is still a problem. I have been a Naim customer since the early 80's and have regarded Naim as the Rolls Royce of audio equipment. With the high purchase price they charge I expect the product to be long lasting, of high quality and expect the company to stand behind their product. Obviously the new operators of the company are not of the same dedication to quality that the founder Julian Vereker was. I'm sure if he was still...

I know this is a Naim forum but Focal and Naim I understand are under the same umbrella. Several reviews are of the opinion that the Wilson line of speakers i.e.. Sabrinas and the newer Yvettes are so much better and "not in the same league" as the Sopras, even the the Sopra 3. I have really enjoyed mine and was wondering what the general feeling was in the Naim community.

Hi all and greetings from Pennsylvania! I'm a newbie to Naim gear and need some guidance. I got my first piece (CD3.5) about 2 months ago and I love the sound. So much so, that I now have a Nait 5i (non italic) on the way. My previous integrated was a Creek 5350SE and before that a 4330SE. I loved both Creek's (especially the 4330SE) but I had to try a Naim integrated to see how it would sound--as well as mate with my 3.5. The 5i came along and it was priced with my budget, so I decided to...

Hi just a quick question. Iam currently using an original XS and Flatcap. Is it worthwhile changing to the current XS2 and Flatcap or wait until I can afford a Supernait 2? Appreciate your thoughts.

After a short break I renewed my hifi magazine subscription which at the time was giving away for free a Atlas EOS mains cable... With an electrical engineering background, I must admit to not ever buying into the idea of a meter length of mains wire making a difference to the sound quality of a well designed amp, never mind one with an additional power supply... I mean really... how could there be a difference... But since I had this cable anyway... which apparently costs £170 ish new, what...

Made ya look. Just excited to be home after 3 weeks on the road listening to my iPhone and AirPods... the 252/300Dr/Sopra 2's sound beyond amazing. I am convinced that a good stereo never sounds better than after a week or two away from it :-)

first of 2 questions 1st since I now have my nac282 supercapped can I use the aux2 for my headline?
mikeybabyPosted: 30 March 2017Last Updated: 30 March 2017

.... happens to come built into the best integrated amp I've ever heard - the Plinius Hautonga. The replacement for my SN2 and a new level of replay experience for me. I loved the hi-fi aspects of my SN2 (transient attack, resolution, bass acumen) but in the end decided it was simply too ruthless on the majority of my music collection. Too mids-forward, too shouty, and too often harsh to my ears. Well-mastered recordings were superb on the SN2, but unfortunately good, decent and poor...

I have seen for sale at a fair price a NAC 152 XS and NAP155 XS pairing. I currently use a Nait XS amplifier. My question is would there be any improvement over what I currently use given that I don't want to spend more to go to a 202/272.

My current system consists of cd5xs, ndac and 152 / 155 / flatcap xs. all Naim interconnects, 7.5m naca5, neat motive 2, dedicated CU. Components are on a home made rack with isolation spikes and chips (which made a noticeable improvement when changed from previous cheap av stand. Room approx 5m x 3.5m. Speakers firing across room and I'm confident I've optimised position. Room seems well damped. Have gradually upgraded from CD5i / Nait 5i, speakers have remained the same (just like the...

Connected to my SN2 are my Vandersteen 2CE Signatures. Now I have purchased a Vandy 2Wq sub, it came with the WX-2 crossovers. I have posed this question to the Vandersteen site, but not sure how to properly wire/connect these items. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Recently, our MuSo has begun to switch inputs with no help from me. We run it from the App but use the remote to change volume. There is zero chance we are hitting the remote by accident. The MuSo Is usually set up to Digital to play from our TV via toslink. Recently, it has begun to switch to Bluetooth or TV where there are no inputs playing. This is driving my wife crazy. Can one of you help me understand what is happening based on your experience with a similar problem? Sounds great and...

in the next couple of years I'm packing my bags, selling up, leaving the smoke and heading for the sticks. so the potential new house will be detached with enough space round it for a suitable extension im thinking along the lines of speakers being 10ft apart @ centres and 3ft from the side walls - so we are 18ft wide and about 15ft sitting away from the speakers- so about 16ft long then. although should I be sitting chair up tight to the backwall ? Or would I be better away from the...

I'm planning some comparisons of digital sources next week, and wonder what (subtle) differences I should expect - any hints would be most appreciated! So far, I'm expecting similar results for all setups below, though the top (NDX) is possible 'best', and using the 272 in UPnP-mode might be the 'worst': 1a. NDX -> Hugo TT (using Coax; the NDX would stream from the Core) -> 272 analog-in 1b. Core -> Hugo TT (using Coax) -> 272 analog-in 2a. HDX -> Hugo TT (using optical) ->...

Hello dear members, I have a Linn Axis Basik Plus connected to NAC 112x via StageLine N (Aux 2 in & pwr). Last week a friend of mine gave me NAC 122x for a test. Today I switched my NAC 112x back to the system. But there seems to be a problem when playing the TT - the volume is pretty much lower than the CD or DAC ones. If I have to put in numbers - around 40-50% from the CD or DAC volume. Before testing the NAC122x it was a little lower but OK. Now is too much different. And the sound...

Hi, Connected a headline to the aux/out of a 282 but only the right channel is working, no left channel signal. Checked the plug but that seems OK. Used the headphones on another device, is ok. So, what's left to check? Thanks! Willem
