Hi-Fi Corner
Hi folks. I have owned a Supernait 2 for a few months now and I love the sound and the way it partners with my speakers which are getting a bit long in the tooth like me. I have a couple of small issues:- 1/ The remote control is a NARCOM 5 and it operates the volume and balance controls etc. It will not change the source component i.e. CD/tuner and so on. I note the keys on the remote are colour coded grey. Is there something else I need to press in order to change the source? 2/ I also...
The rumours been many but now it's official: Kudos new speaker, Titan 707 will be introduced at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show. A smaller one box speaker but with the Titan sound is what to be expected. A new reference in its class? //Jonas
I have 282+SCDR, 300DR, nDAC+XPSDR, CDX2 into Sopra N2 with Rega RP10/Aphelion into Aria. Following forum advice prior to adding the 300DR + Sopra N2s to work on positioning and cabling, I decided to switch from a single HiFi Rack Limited stack to separate stacks along the Brain/Brawn lines. 3 new racks are on order, but I started the new layout 10 days ago, and still retained the Aria on the top shelf to left of TT with 282 below and 300DR where the LPs would go on my special rack.
Good morning, I bought a pair of Epos ES11. Unfortunately i recognized that both cones are detached from the phase plug. The sound ist till great but with higher volume + bass they start to "flatter". I want to fix it with a glue bit i don´t want to send them to Nirvana with the wrong glue. As i know the cones are made from a polyurethane/polypropylene. Does somebody have experience fixing the cones to the phase plug? Thanks a lot in advance for your help :) Regards, Rob
Hi to All ! My first post ,,, I have a stock Nap160 CB ( was recap ) . If I take the standing current measurement I read 100ma and 95ma for 36.9vdc . At 0r22 resistor 7.5mv both rails . The power transistors are naim 002 . I take my measurement at the +40v rail using an digital ammeter. Other then a recap ( value for value ) the amp is in stock condition . offset voltages are 10mv and 20mv . Comparing to the traditional 33-35ma, 100ma seem very high . What can cause those NAPA pcb to have...
I'm relatively new to Naim. I'm a long time fan of music and hifi. With the kids all now young adults and not having to spend every last dime on their upkeep, this is the first high quality system I've had. I am currently running an NAC-N 272 and NAP 250 DR. I also have a Rega Planar 3 w/Fono turntable system and an Oppo BDP-83SE BluRay/CD player. (While the Oppo is a "Special Edition" with high quality DAC, I'm simply sending digital signal to the 272 and using its DAC for CDs.) The system...
I know, it must be tedious, but I feel that I've reached a bit of a crossroads and need some help, so here goes: What I've got: LP12/Ittok/Ortofon 2M Blue. As basic an LP12 as could be. CD3.5 NAC102/NAPSC/HiCap/NAP160 ATC SCM19s (old style) I've just recently got the NAPSC and was very surprised at the improvement - it got my juices flowing unfortunately, but I don't know where to go next. You will notice that all my gear is olive, apart from the 160, so I've always longed for a 250, just so...
ive recently acquired a s/h NDX and have it connected to my Uniti2. I'm still a bit shocked by the improved sq. it's a much fuller sound from the NDX to keep it simple. My question is what next? With the Uniti line getting an overhaul it is expected that the classic series will as well I assume. Since my U2 basically has no value s/h now I'm looking for some advice. What would you do? Keep the NDX/U2 and pick up a s/h SN2 or just keep the U2. Wait for the classic line overhaul and enjoy the...
I wonder if the learned, or at least opinionated forum members could help me with an upgrade query? Current system: LP12 ND5 XS2 PMC20.23 Vinyl is my primary source; I probably listen to it 70% of the time, and the remaining time distributed across the digital sources available through the ND5 XS. I have to say that I’m generally very satisfied, everything is well balanced and it sounds great, but audiophilia is a sickness and I’m a chronic case. I have in mind a couple of upgrade options:...
I'm currently using this chrome bumper amp combination (serviced about 8 years ago) with a Linn Majik DS or LP12/Ittok/Lingo front end into Kudos C2 speakers but I think the amp combination is probably the weak link in the system. Looking at the second hand market it seems that a 2012 vintage 202/200 combination can be found for about £2000, or alternatively should I stick with my 62 and look for a 250 which seem to be similar money for that vintage. What are anybodies thoughts? Moderated...
Hi everybody, I'm back after a few years of absence from this great forum. My audio hobby took a back seat for a while and rebuilding & moving to a new house even led to my gear being boxed up for two years and I didn't even care! I don't understand how this is possible myself but that's what happend... Anyhow, my system is up and running again for 5 or 6 weeks now and I am completely in love with it's performance and the sonic character of my living room. It's an old house of 100+ years...
Hi All, just thought I'd point you towards Naim's latest online Connection article entitled More Than Repairs... Servicing Your Naim Product. More than Repairs... Servicing Your Naim Product There's a nice picture of the Service Dept's Bev Haysom and Electronic Design Director, Steve Sells inspecting a NAP500 - rare to see it with its gull wing doors open...
As a new member of the forum, this is a post to say hello to all and ask a question - I will apologise in advance, as I have no doubt that some variant of it has been asked before. Until recently, my system has consisted of a Cyrus top end, feeding a Plinius M8 pre and SA201 power and PMC OB1i speakers. In all honesty, I was impressed by the way it reproduced music, but after I had got over being impressed, I became tired of the uninvolving nature of the sound and stopped actually listening...
Can anyone tell me how much power a Nap 250 dr consumes if you leave it playing 24/7 as compared to just having it powered on but muted, with no sound coming from the speakers.I usually have my system running around the clock,I leave it on low volume when I go to work, just because I have a dog in the house, and I don't want him getting all excited at every little noise.I am looking for a dollar amount,it just seems like my hydro bill has gone sky high since adding the 250,and now I am worried...
Really looking forward to the Bristol Show this year and can't believe it's here again!! Some really interesting things to look/listen to and meet up with the Naim personnel again!!
Hello, having a question regarding the Naim recommendation to switch on the stuff step by step: Sources and power supplies first and at least the power amp. Doing so I have trouble with my (household) fuse shutting down electricity. When turning around – switch on first the poweramp and then the other stuff everything is fine. I assume it depends on the fuses in our house (these are older ones from the 1960ties or 1970ties) and therefore they are very sensible with higher switch on current.

I have a Naim Nait XS and I'm moving from the US 110v/60hz to Germany 230v/50hz. I could purchase a step-down transformer to reduce 230v mains into 110v or I could take the integrated amp to a NAIM repair center to have the power supply changed to accept 230v. Has anyone done this? For the people who have done this, I would like to ask if you noticed and improvement in sound over using the step-down transformer method? What size step-down transformer is optimum? Will 500W be enough? Are...
Hi again, I purchased some Naim 322 cards the other day and fitted them, however, one channel is much, much lower than the other side, I have to have the balance knob cranked 95% over to one side to get the balance correct, also meaning I have to run the volume far higher to listen to anything, I never had this issue with the previous 323 cards I had fitted, Could this be an issue with one of the cards? Is there anything I can do to correct this issue? Thanks for any help and advice proffered.

I've recently obtained some new NACA5 cables (from A Naim dealer, by mail order). I have Naim plugs at the amplifier ends and 'regular' banana plugs at the loudspeaker ends (I don't use Naim speakers). At both ends the cable has been split (cut) down the middle (between the conductors, the split is five or six inches in length), I've not seen this before and questioned it. I was told it was to allow for some 'flexibility and manoeuvrability' of the cables, thus allowing easier connection to...

I have a recently serviced Nait 3 with a Flatcap2 that I would like to pair with Harbeth P3ESR's. Because the Harbeth's require some power to perform at their best, am wondering if any users have ever hooked a separate NAP power amp up to a Nait 3. Is a combination like that capable of producing effective results with a speaker like the P3ESR, or is the preamp section of the Nait 3 too much of a limiting factor? If it is capable of producing effective results, which NAP units might make...
Hello everyone, I apologise for hijacking another topic and I thank the fellow forum users for giving me instructions on how to open a new topic from a mobile phone. English is not my native language, so I apologise in advance for possible spelling and grammar errors. As I already mentioned in another topic, I have a pair of Dynaudio Focus 260 speakers, currently powered by Arcam A29 integrated amp. I bought the speakers in like new condition and it was too good a deal to be missed. I am...
